Weekly Answers, Pt. 4

1) You didn’t answer my question last week, Jon. Don’t know why. I’ll try again. What happened to Carrie Rubertino, the men’s basketball trainer for the past few years? Thank you. – Matt Hagen
Had to ask for you, my man. She went to North Carolina, and now works with the track team.

2) How do you feel recruiting is coming along this year? Overall does UCLA begin to close the gap between them and other Pac-10 school’s? – Nick
UCLA recruiting has been great for two years, considering where it came from. UCLA closes the gap in 2011, though, because the schedule next year might be the toughest in the country.

3) Do you believe that traveling partners Utah and BYU should join the Pac-10? – Mario DiLeo
Yes. Split the conference in two with UCLA/USC, Arizona/ASU, Stanford/Cal in one division and OSU/Oregon, BYU/Utah and UDub/Wazzu in the other. Best conference in the country, and almost a guaranteed top-2 BCS game for the winner. Also would guarantee a good look for the Heisman every year.

4) Does UCLA have a chance with Marquis Flowers? – spencer
A chance, yes. Will he be a Bruin, I doubt it.

5) It appears there may be many head coaching vacancies this year, one at San Jose State and possibly Stanford if Harbaugh is wooed to the Dome. Realizing that coach Chow’s compensation was subsidized by the Titans for the last two seasons and the budget cuts implemented by the state of California, will the school be able to retain him at his current pay or does Coach Chow still have an itch to be scratched (head coach position)? – T4
Chow has said multiple times he’s coming back. I can only write what he’s told me, but he said he’s coming back.

6) Who did you give your Heisman vote to? – WB
Didn’t have one, but it would have gone to Gerhart.

7) Is Xavier Su’a Filo still planning on going on his LDS mission next year? – bruin95grad
Last I talked to him, I got the feeling that it was a no. But that was a couple weeks ago. I’ll try to find out on Friday.

8) I read somewhere that Jayson Allmond may be tried at Mike. If that were to happen, would the coaches look at trying Golper at Fullback? I saw him play at Arcadia and he had great hands and was actually one of their top receivers two years in a row and I think he played fullback as a sophomore. His high school highlight tapes on Scout show him catching a lot of passes – SGV Bruin
I think we’ll be very surprised with what happens at fullback next year. It is completely up in the air.

9) Could you put the first interview with Ben Olson on iTunes? – anonymous
Well, it’s not really an interview – Ben’s the cohost. And it’s on iTunes already. Search under podcast, ‘Inside UCLA’

10) What is the status of Prince’s arm injury sustained in the USC game? – Danny
Sprained AC joint, would keep him out 3-6 weeks, Neuheisel said he’s on track. He *should* be available. We’ll see, though.
