Weekly Q&A

You’ve got questions…
I’ve got answers…

Fire away, and if there are enough questions by tomorrow, you’ll get the dish sooner than later. There are a few left over from last week that I’ll get to, also.

Thanks guys
JG

When will that huge commit make it public?
Who do you think UCLA ends up with at DT? What will happen next year? Will Eddie Williams or someone else be moved over to the defensive side of the ball. DT is a huge question mark for us next year. Thanks

What’s going on with the Pauley refurb? It’s been a long time since we’ve heard an update. Can you look into it and get us some new info?

Jon is there a chance with XSF leaving that RNC and Palcic go after Eric Kohler from Oaks or another west coast OL we haven’t heard about before? Also can you tell us about the D.Lineman out of Oakland were starting to hear about.

What’s your take on R.Caroll and M.Pressley’s role in the offense next year? Also from what you’ve seen at practice does someone like J.Edison or D.Holmes have the strength to be serviceable as interior lineman?

Do you think Reeves Nelson will leave early? If so, when?

With us and $C having huge offical visit weekends in Jan. Are those gonna be bigger than ever since $C is trying to get more of the big name kids left on our list to visit or are those last in home visits which RNC is the best at gonna seal the deal.

    Hi Jon,

I have a few questions regarding the offensive line:

    1) With Sua-Filo leaving for his LDS mission, what will our starting offensive line look like next season?

    2) Will his departure change our recruiting priorities as well (do we go after another offensive lineman or two in this year’s class)?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

During the recruiting process, Howland must have known than Gordon was “fiery” or “emotional,” while Gordon must have known that Howland was no-nonsense and controlling. What made them think it would work, and why did it go so wrong?

I’ll stipulate that rankings aren’t everything, but Lazeric Jones is a one star recruit. What should we realistically expect from him?

Does Norm Chow stay next year? If not, does he back to SC?

    Hey Jon,

With the big o-line recruits we got last year, do you think there was any sense of complacency in regards to recruiting o-linemen this year? Any chance Hasiak comes back next year? Thanks for all the great info Jon.

can you please give us some twitter pages for players and coaches of basketball and football? thanks.

With next year’s schedule and state of the Pac-10, do you foresee the football team to do any better than 7-6?

What are your thoughts on UCLA picking up Ray McCallum? What are their chances?

  • UCLAVES

Is UCLA recruiting any OL other than Yandall? I see a Crabb from Hawaii on a few websites.

How many guards do you think UCLA will take for this recruiting class?

  • UCLAVES

With Price leaving any chance Uko or Taula reconsider UCLA?

  • RC3UCLA

Jon, which of the current junior class might UCLA be targeting? Though I admit it is early, do you have any idea as to which of these players might be considered strong BRUIN leans? Which positions do you feel will be our biggest concerns for next year’s class? Despite the recent recruiting debacles (Warner, Mobley), do you foresee the coaching staff begin to delve more into the JC ranks as other Pac-10 teams seem to do?

  • wc116

It seems to me that Rick Neuheisel likes to play close to the vest in the first three quarters and then play more aggressively in the fourth quarter for the win. The talent is there, so do you think that he doesn’t trust his players enough?

  • wc116

Do you think Malcolm Lee will bolt for the NBA after this season?

  • Ryan

What is our two-deep at d-tackle looking like next year? This includes committed recruits right now.

    Jon,
I really appreciate the work that you do on this blog.It is annoying to read some of the nonsense from morons who want to throw crap at you in order to satisfy their low self esteem. That said, when does the recruiting dead period end and do we have any good recruits lined up?
    Happy New Year!

In a previous Q&A, you said CRN’s fourth year (’11) would be the first year to fairly assess whether his approach will reap dividends. Many schools give coaches only 3 to 5 years to produce. How can CRN best work with a potentially small window?

How actively does Neuheisal recruit offensive linemen from the midwest (like Big 12 and Big 10 country). Do you think the o-linemen out there have any interest in UCLA?

    Hi Jon,

Since Brandon Willis has decommitted from Tennessee, what are our chances of landing him (I heard it’s between us and UNC)? Also, do you know who the leader is for Ricky Heimuli? Considering our need at DT, and Uko’s commitment to USC, I believe getting at least one (or hopefully both) is a major priority. Thanks for your time.

    Hi Jon,

If it’s not too late, I do have another question: with USC imposing sanctions against itself, do you think the NCAA might be finishing it’s investigation? Usually a university will impose sanctions against itself when they are worried about punishments from the NCAA. And would this be enough to prevent further discipline from the NCAA? Considering the length of the investigation, and that no penalties were placed on the football program, I would hope that the NCAA does not go easy against USC.

are there any real talks of moving Derrick Coleman to FB or is that just something we wish would happen?

How come your prediction for linebackers playing next year did not include anything on Bowens or Golper? I had heard Bowens showed a lot of promise and athleticism on the Scout team and the coaches were pleased with Golper’s consistent , if not flashy, performance at the Mike position.
