ESPN ranks the bowls...ouch
ESPN college football analyst Mark Schlabach gives his rankings of the bowl games, 1-through-34. He is not kind...
33. Eagle Bank Bowl
Army/UCLA vs. Temple
4:30 p.m. ET, Dec. 29
If Army can upset Navy on Dec. 19, the Eagle Bank Bowl might feature the most unlikely bowl matchup in history. The Black Knights can punch their tickets to RFK Stadium by finishing 6-6. The Owls are playing in their first bowl game in 30 seasons after finishing 9-3. Then again, a 5-7 Army team might be more deserving than the 6-6 UCLA.
Here's the link: ESPN rankings

Army more deserving than UCLA!!! What are they talking about? Army has played no one or importance. The hardest team they have beaten is maybe the SEC Vanderbilt that has a 2-12 record (0-8 in conference)!!! Speaking of which none of the teams that they have beaten has more than 2 wins to their names!!! That is just complete BS!!! I can understand if UCLA doesn't get that much love for their up and down season... but absolutely no love at all. That is just so messed up!
it's all relative. 6-6 is better than 4-8 and a bad bowl is better than no bowl. Progress is sometimes slow. If we're in the same boat next year it'll be a different discussion.
"Then again, a 5-7 Army team might be more deserving than the 6-6 UCLA."
Very true words.
Anyone want to hit up the Abbey tonight?
I'm with you UB, bring your "son," he's a cutie.
I think you're missing the point, Anon. A bowl game means 15 more practices. That's what, about 4 to 5 regular season week's of practices? So almost another half of a season of practices. With all the young guys in the lineup, that could be the difference in a couple of wins next year.
Sports Illustrated ranked it #27
Somebody here is obsessed with the real UB. Feel sad for him/her/it.
@ Anon 3:14 PM -
First of all, we finished 7th in the PAC, not 8th. Secondly, we finished EXACTLY where every sane person projected we would finish. We didn't win any big games against opponents that were better on paper; but on the same note, we didn't lose to anyone below us, either. The problem is that we started 3-0, and too many people had false hopes for a miracle season. We were a 6-6 team before the season started, and we're a 6-6 team at the end. What's important is that we're a developing young team, CRN is recruiting well, and we're two games better than last year. All signs say we're trending up. So yes; this season was a success. Failure occurs only when there is no progress. Be patient. GO BRUINS!
Sorry... 8th was right. I forgot that Washington beat Cal! But my other points were the important part anyway...
The only "analyst" on ESPN that know what he's talking about is Herbstreit. Everyone else makes me wonder how the hell you get to be an "analyst" for a sport you have clearly never watched because you have your head so far up your ass.
What's your beef with me VB?
I have seen some criticisms of this blog and while I do not agree with everything, I do feel that the quality has gone down...we're not here to get links to ESPN "experts" who will never stop their west-coast bias...comments like whether or not UCLA deserves it is not even worth responding to. Same with the Wooden video...that's old news...it was aired a few weeks ago. I'd like to see more recruiting details...how we're doing against other traditional football schools...basketball recruits...how are the practices? Things like that. Thanks.
Hey VB, what's your deal?
Just wondering if VB is still in junior high...
A 5-7 Army team who played the 124th toughest schedule (Sagarin) is more deserving than a 6-6 UCLA team who played the 10th toughest schedule?
And while UCLA may only have one win over a team with a winning record, Army has ZERO. They've taken down these juggernauts: Eastern Michigan (0-12), Ball State (2-10), Vanderbilt (2-10), Virginia Military Institute (2-9), and North Texas (2-10)
What the hell is ESPN talking about??
I have been watching ESPN/Sportscenter long enough to know they love to promote USC under any circumstances! They don't want to give any kind of love to UCLA. I don't give much cred at all to what they say regarding the Bruins. If we go, it will be great for our program and give us more exposure. Hopefully, this kind of BS from ESPN will give our team to produce a blowout against the OWLs.
VB is a cowardly racist punk.
LOL, VB, I almost forgot that Rich McNeal was dating a KO-HO. For those who must know, Rich is the dude posing as UB. He followed UB abd VB here from the CBSSports blog. He has some weird obsession with UB and VB. Hey, Rich, how'd that loss to 'Bama sit with ya?
