I'd support Howland leaving if this year is as bad as it seems it's going to be and next year isn't much of an improvement (no NCAA tournament, not top two Pac-10). If those things happen, then Howland should step down after next year.
Howland is an amazing and Coach and is as frustrated with this team and season as we are. He is the man to turn it around since he did that when he got here. The talk of "firing Howland" is ludicrous.

Mike, those like you are the reason that we have years of mediocrity in UCLA sports like basketball and football. It's obvious that the game has passed Howland up and he just isn't doing a good job anymore. Now, I'm not saying fire him this second, but if UCLA still sucks next year that's more than enough proof/reason, he's gotta go and someone who can perform brought in. These multi-million/year coaching jobs aren't for life, you have to perform if you want to stay.

Miller took the job at UA which is crap compared to UCLA, let's find another Miller (exciting, up and comer, proven good coach, etc.). I'm sure there are some out there. I don't get paid for and don't care enough to go look at all the coaches in the country to give you specific names, that's what Guerrero gets paid for and I'm sure they'll waste money by hiring a firm to find people too. Or fools like you can keep Howland and we'll have many more years of mediocrity or worse from what it looks like.

why argue with those that want instant gratification? they want what they want and they want it now. perhaps they're too young to see that there will always be ups and downs....aside from the 1995 championship, UCLA had done NOTHING in basketball since the Wooden years, until Howland came along

Instead of whining, why not provide some constructive advice like Mustafa did. If your idea is good, they might hear about it. I think having the young players watch footage of some of our Final Four teams is a great idea, and it's something that might help the team win, unlike you whiny little....
Mike and others: This is part of the deal at a major university....You can have ok seasons but you can't have the worst season ever or even close. Ask charlie weis? You can't loose to Fullerton, Portland and L.B. St when you have 3 seniors that YOU recruited and a group of SO and FR that YOU recruited. Between the 17 kids on your bench, if YOU can't put together 5-8 that can compete against those teams and you are at one of the elite basketball universities then somethings wrong. I don't care how many players you lost to the NBA. Because guess what? All the other top coaches go through the same thing every year!
Ask Charlie Weis? He had 5 years of mediocrity and never had a team in the running that was truly HIS! Can't believe some of you are throwing Howland under the bus. We've been right there with a shot at the title 3 years in a row. That's unheard of this day in age in college hoops.
