Howland ON: Tyler Honeycutt

On Tyler Honeycutt's playing time:
"In terms of the last game, they said 20 (minutes) would be about...so much is based on his conditioning. He missed three weeks so he's just coming back. His conditioning is going to make it to where he won't be able to play 30 or 35 minutes for a little more time, I would think.

On Tyler Honeycutt's performance:
"But considering that was his first game he played in, I thought he did some good things. Obviously he was a little nervous early. He made a couple of turnovers that I don't think he'll make in the future. He's a very good passer and I think he had six rebounds. I think he's going to hopefully blossom as he gets to play more and more."

On the division of minutes to fit Honeycutt in:
"It'll cut down on the minutes for Michael Roll, Malcolm Lee and Jerime (Anderson), which I think is a good thing. They've had to play too many minutes thus far this year. I think that's going to help, not so much in support of the position but in keeping them fresh."

I LIKE IT!

Like Howland, I'm not expecting TH to come in and dominate for 40 min per game right away. Face it, he's a twig with incredible athleticism and ability, but has had ZERO practice time as a true freshman in one of the toughest systems to learn in the country.
I'm glad that CBH is recognizing that he should be playing TH more minutes WHEN and ONLY WHEN he's physically in shape and recovered from an injury.

Tyler Honeycutt: For god's sake, put on some muscle weight!!! You risk getting broken in half by a 260lb monster in any game by going into the paint.

People used to say the same thing about Tayshawn Prince and he is still a stick and having a fine career in the NBA.
There is nothing wrong with long and lean.

Tayshaun Prince is 215 lbs.

Honeycutt, who is identical in height, is 160 lbs.

Fifty-five pounds is the size of a child.

To some, this is considered, for Honeycutt's height, too light to be competitive at high school tennis.

When your offensive philosophy is attacking the basket and your defensive imperative is eliminating dribble penetration I strongly urge you to understand, everything is wrong.

Although he looks like 160. Honyecutt is listed at 180. Thirty-five pounds lighter than Tayshaun Prince, the size of a younger child.
