I'm no doctor, so somebody please explain.
Is a partial knee tendon tear more akin to an ACL/MCL injury where the player is out for a year, but almost always makes a full recovery and doesn't miss a beat the following year?
Or is it more like the dreaded microfracture injury, where players like Amare, McGrady and Oden just aren't the same for 4-5 years, even after they 'recover'. Every time I hear the term microfracture surgery, I pity the poor soul who will never play to the same ability again.
I really hope it's not serious, but even if it ends his season, I'm praying it's something that he can come back from at full strength.
OMG!!!! We are becoming the Clippers of the NCAA.

Its the Basketball Player from WA
Really varies on the seriousness of the partial tear, so as the article says, the treatment could range from surgery to repair the patella tendon to just physical therapy and rest. Microfracture surgery is used when there has been significant damage to the cartilage, so it sounds as though that will not be necessary in Smith's case.
God has declared UCLA a 'no go zone'.
