What is everyone's problem...lighten up, gesh! Jon's post on Norm Chow is the first thing I've seen that has Chow's reaction rather than just random journalists who live 500 miles away saying what they think.

Foster's doesn't cover UCLA hoops for the Times. David Wharton does. Gold covers both for the DN. I am sure his plate is plenty full with all other the other services he provides for the blog like the podcast, in game chats, Q&As.

Gold provides more than the Times, Register, Press Enterprise combined. Even more than the paysites. Instead of whining, people should appreciate the services since they are FREE!!!!!!!!!

Jon, you're doing great work. The podcasts are a great addition to the blog and I'm sure it takes a ton of time. I for one appreciate the extra time and effort, especially considering it's a one man show covering the Bruins for the DN. The rest of the complainers can go elsewhere. Their sense of entitlement will lead them nowhere other than looking for handouts.

Jon provides a mass load of great information! I'm tired of reading all of the dumas's comments that are just complaints.

you do realize, that as of right now, UCLA does not have any more football games to play, right?

People need to lay off Jon and stop comparing him to Dohn. Jon has been here for what? a few months? Dohn was here for six years. It takes time to build sources, build a relationship with coaches and the school, including HS coaches and the like. For what he was given, Jon has done more than a respectable job and is giving us everything he can with the little resources he has. Give it time.

Why are you morons being so mean to Jon Gold? We should be appreciative of the fact that this blog is free. Jon, we love the hard work you put in. I'm also your # 1 fan. Keep up the good work!

Actually, what posters say on a blog should never be a surprise. Although it is somewhat surprising how Jon Gold is being harshly picked on over here. Of course, SC's Scott Wolf really gets pelted, people questioning his sexual preference, his intelligence etc.

BTW, Notre Dame is said to decide today whether they will accept any forthcoming bowl invites. UCLA will likely take their place in the GMAC or Humanitarian bowls should they choose to decline and provided that Hawaii loses tomorrow to preserve an at-large spot for a 6-6 team.

concerning Chow: i still say something is not right here. the O-Line was much better this year meaning the QB's were not under extreme pressure like last year. the receivers were ok and yes the RB's underperformed, but all in all, the offense still was very poor given the talent level we have. to not be able to score on USC or ASU's defense (1 td in 2 games) is crazy for the end of the season offense.

so even though the price is right, i say we should consider going in another direction. i have no reason to be confident next year will be a LOT better which is what we need to move into the upper half of the Pac10. and if Chow takes this SJS job, that makes it easy.
