Quotables: Jerime Anderson
On the team's poor defense:
"It's a little surprising because I thought that we were working pretty hard in practice getting ready for teams defensively. Scouting on teams, we go over all the offense they run and how to defend it. We've missed some assignments here and there and have too many breakdowns right now."
On his own game:
"I think I need to be more aggressive offensively. That's a problem we're lacking right now. We don't have enough offense. I don't think I've been myself offensively that much."
On the team's 3-point shooting:
"I don't think necessarily that were settling for threes. Most of the time people are taking shots we believe they can make. If Nik misses 10 shots, I'll pass him the ball and expect him to make the next shot. The shooting woes are a problem with the team, but we need to establish a little more inside."
On poor shooting affecting team chemistry:
"Not necessarily. I don't think the shooting has anything to do with the chemistry of the team. It affects players individually, they might get down on themselves. But that's when we need to pick each other up."

when is the next chat jon got some recruiting questions for ya
who is this jerime anderson kid and why is he our pg
Jerime: "We don't have enough offense. I don't think I've been myself offensively that much."
Frankly Mr. Anderson, your offense has been pretty offensive.
Right now more than ever, this kid named Jerime needs our support. He IS our point guard and right now our season rides on his performance. He is about 19 years old and probably hears what people are saying about him. He has been playing ball for most of his life I would imagine. I think his confidence is waivering more than anything and it would probably help him to know that people were not ready to throw him off the team bus because he has started poorly this season.
I was watching Kentucky play vs Indiana and when one of their players missed a free throw, one of the asst coaches got upset and tried correcting his follow thru, Calipari smacked the assistant and just clapped...told the kid, "it's ok" and stared at the asst and made him clap too. I never really respected Calipari much, but that showed me a lot.
These are very young kids and sometimes a little encouragement goes a long way. i am sure encouragement from the so called 'fan' base would go help.
Go Bruins.
Why are you asking questions to the ball boy Jon?
you act like he's surfing the internet reading this blog in hopes of finding support and encouragement from us. If he is, then that would explain a lot.
This is a 19 year old MAN who doesn't need to be coddled. We don't need to pat him on the head and say, "Ok Jerime, you have our support. Now go out and do your best!"
He is the starting point guard at UCLA. He is not the starting point guard at Tuscaloosa Community College. We know he's not playing well. He knows he's not playing well. He's the only one who can do something about it.
As one of the "so called 'fans,'" I can handle losing. Well, not really, but what other choice do I have. What I really can't handle is the same mistakes being made over and over again. With a position as crucial as the starting point guard, Jerime needs to step it up and take responsibility.
You're going to make a great father one day SWC...
