Washington all of a sudden got a whole lot better

The Washington Huskies just picked up their biggest recruit of the offseason...Jake Locker.

Looks like the star quarterback is going to stay for his senior year:

Locker

Now if only the Bruins can somehow convince BP to stay, too...

He's not ready for the NFL anyways, great athlete but just a good college player right now. Smart move on his part, he wouldn't have been a day 1 pick

The dude on ESPN had him going #1 overall. Drawing a blank on the name but it's the guy Herbstreit always makes a crack at because he locks himself into the back room watching tape. Doesn't look like the guy ever played a down.

He actually is projected to go first round by most sources, based PURELY on potential alone. I agree with Stussy though, in that Locker isn't prepared for the NFL and will actually make his long-term future better by staying another year. Unfortunately, that hurts the Pac-10, and it will likely hurt Locker too. Projected as a top-5 pick now, he's essentially betting against the odds that he'll go higher. His stock might fall if he gets injured again.

Ironically, Price is very ready for the NFL, is absolutely gone this year, and will sadly be bipassed by a lot of teams (unless they pay attention during the combines). Most sources have him either late 1st-mid 2nd round. In terms of immediate and long-term NFL impact, Brian Price will likely emerge as one of the top 10 best from this draft. He could actually improve his stock by staying for his senior year, but he also risks getting injured and falling (and he has been nicked up many times in college).

Good news for the quality of the Pac-10 overall and UW. Bad news for UCLA and the bottom half of the Pac-10 as an experienced Senior QB is worth his weight in Gold. Lots of good QBs in the Pac-10 next year: Masoli, Locker, Luck, Foles, etc. If only our QBs would play half that good. Well, one can always dream.

So unlike Reggie Carter, Jake Locker isn't "trying to get some moooo-nnneeeey"

You, sir, have a FANTASTIC name.

Did they get better by him staying or simply not take a step backwards?

Reggie Carter is a senior and will be trying to make an NFL team. That's why he said "trying to make some mooneeyyy." Locker is coming back to become a better player under Sark and a pro style offense.

Just when I was hoping for a bit of good news. Locker returning for his senior year is not good news for us. Hopefully, he'll engineer another whooping of SC but somehow forget what he's doing when he plays us....temporary amnesia or a premenstrual headache.

Somehow I don't think the NFL is clammoring over guys that complete 58% of the passes in college and have a 2:1 TD to INT ratio. Didn't Barkley complete 58% of his passes? I thought Luck and Canfield were just as good as Locker and they don't get near the hype.

somehow you'd be wrong. he's projected to be a first round pick...a very high by some experts b/c of his athleticism and arm strength...

How can retaining the QB from last year's 5-7 team be a major step forward.

I agree with JUST ASKING that its not a step backward having to bring in another QB.

As for Price, he's scheduled for Round 2 with three other DT ahead of him.

He waits a year and he's a 1st Round next year.
