You've got questions...
I've got answers...

Fire away, and if there are enough questions by tomorrow, you'll get the dish sooner than later. There are a few left over from last week that I'll get to, also.

Thanks guys

which players do you think will round out the football recruiting class this year?

Who do we have the best shot of landing, Uko, Heimuli, Potoae and Odighizuwa?

Anonymous said:

Yes, I agree with BruinBrian...I want to hear more about our recruiting efforts also...all of the coaches made stops somewhere...how did those visits go? You put out these quotes...they're fine, but they're exactly the same quotes from your articles...I don't need to see them twice.

Concerning our 2010 FB schedule, I've noticed that Texas is now slated to play at Texas Tech on 9/18 rather than hosting the Bruins. Do you have any idea what's going on; will we play them the following week (9/25) during our bye or during our bye week in November instead?

It is defenitley time for Ben Howland to scrap that peice of junk defensive philosophy and go up tempo. Even I can tell his starting five should be, Lee, Roll, Honeycutt, Moser, Keefe. Please tell me he will get at least two more guards in 2010???

Last year, UCLA coaches were able to change the mind of a couple of commits to USC. Are you aware (without giving names) of any significant commits to other universities that may go UCLA's way?

UCLA Basketball had 2 nationally acclaimed recruiting classes in 2008 and 2009. Were the recruiting pundits & Howland wrong in their assesments of the talent of these kids or is what we're seeing more atributable to inexperience and coaching deficincies ?

Anonymous said:

"Even I can tell the starting 5 should be..."

Are you kidding me? How do you justify this starting 5?

Adam said:

Why does Howland continue to play Dragovic? He's a detriment to the team both offensively and defensively when he's on the floor and there's no future for him. Why not dump him and let the young guys get minutes?

C said:

Why is Dragovic so inept defensively? Shooting slumps happen but being in the BH system for 4 years should yield more than what he brings defensively, right?

Can you ask CBH if that zone talk will ever lead to actually implementing it in a game.

Thanks!

Can you have to IT folks fix the bug where everytime you go to your page it automatically scrolls down to the "chat" section of the blog? Don't know if this has been addressed but it's a little annoying. Thanks!

Do you think that Kevin Prince should be benched for the meaningless bowl game in favor of Karl Kraft? Let him heal and get ready for next year. How upset are the coaches that Kevin Prince has not learned how to slide feet first? Thank you.

Don't think you've delved into the Pauley refurb situation yet, so I was wondering if you could dig into it? Is the timeline still the same, the donations still going slow, and are they going to be changing the points system for season seat holders any more?

Also, what about the interior design - many fans have had problems with the fact they seem to be "gilding a turd", so are the plans changing at all?

Lastly, I believe that before his legal complications, Henry Samueli was being counted on to be a big contributor to the project. Now that his legal issues seem to be over, do you think this will pave the way for a large contribution from him to kick-start the project?

Any news about the Adidas contract expiring? Will we give Nike a serious look?

I was wondering if you knew what days they were going to be practicing thru their departure for DC? I was wondering if the bowl practices were going to be open to the public to spectate or not?

Hi Jon, have you been following the academic scandal at Florida State at all? Have you heard rumors of any similar situations at the Southland schools? Thanks

Jon - Can we start a petition asking CBH to bench Dragovic?

what's the status on lazeric jones? are we closer to getting him? Also, any of our football recruits close to making a decision yet?

Does Neuheisel take recruits in the helicopter or would that be a recruiting violation?

Which elite PGs is CBH targeting for the class 2011? According to scout.com and rival.com, none of the top 2011 PGs have UCLA on their lists. Does that concern CBH, especially if we don't land McCallum for 2010. Thanks, Jon.

John Amussen said:

When does the UCLA FB team travel to DC, and how much of their DC time is taken up with bowl-related tours, dinners, and events?

Anonymous said:

Why did CBH not offer Klay Thompson a scholarship? Why did so many top programs passed on Mychal's son?

Anonymous said:

Dragovic is obviously not part of the team's long-term success, and Anderson doesn't appear ready to play PG at the UCLA level.

Would Coach Howland consider a lineup that puts the best five guys on the floor and helps to build the team for next year? Something like: Lee, Roll, Honeycutt, Nelson, and Morgan?

Anonymous said:

I heard some rumblings about how some football players secretly didn't want Navy to win and didn't want to go to the bowl game because it effectively eliminates their winter break and will make it difficult for them to spend anytime with their families.

Have you heard anything about this or do you believe that all the players are genuinely excited about this opportunity? I'd like to think that they're all very excited about this, but I can see how, especially for the younger guys, this could be hard on them.

How is UCLA standing with Owa, the DE from Oregon? Do you think UCLA has a real chance to land him?

Rumor has it that Hayes Pullard is leaning to UCLA, as is Anthony Barr. On the flip side, Josh Shirley seems to have cooled on UCLA. Does all of this sound accurate?

you didnt answer my question last time. i asked for a summary of the drew gordon incident. why is he not playing for ucla anymore? thanks.

Jon, why do you think UCLA has a hard time recruiting east of the mississippi? It seems like Duke,N.C.,Kentucky,etc don't have a problem getting the kids from California! I can't remember the last BIG TIME recruit we got from the Midwest or the East Coast.

BigDBruin said:

Jon, Do you think the answer to sustaining success in BBall is to avoid the one and dones and hope the 2nd tier players develop like a Westbrook or Collison, Or take the Calipari route and make sure you get a one and done every year?

You've said several Pac10 teams should still be ahead of us next year in football. If scout.com is to be believed, here are the 4- and 5-star recruits for 07/08/09 and (so far) 10: U$C 51, UCLA 35, Orygun 28, Cal 27, Stanford 22, UW 20, ASU 19, Zona 14, OSU 9, Wazzu 5. Where's the fall down?

What's behind J.Dean "deciding to end" his FB career? Not surprised about the other 3 guys, who didn't play but this guy is a junior who started the last 2 games at RG; wouldn't he have a shot at the two-deep next year at C/G? Is he gone for the Whatchamacallit Bowl?

Hung Lee '81 said:

Is TE Jeff Miller going to the Bowl Game? What about the other 3 Redshirt Juniors? They may not have seen the field much on Saturdays, but have been part of the program for 4 years. Hope they get to go to the Bowl Game as a consolation prize/reward for their service.

With all the dust up about "The Wall" I would like to know the NCAA rules concerning FB practices, for Spring balls and in preperation for a bowl game. What I'm trying to get at is by going over The Wall will they forfeit a practice session or can it be made up on another day so they still get the same number of practices allowed by the NCAA in preperation for a bowl game? Thank you and keep up the good work.
