Hey you never got to my left-over question last week... What is up with S. Hasiak? Do you expect him to be back next year?

There are claims that other schools are telling recruits not to go to UCLA because the style of play of Coach Howland. Do you think Coach is aware of this and will he make any changes to the style of play?

Originally I thought Kirifi Taula (DT from Servite) was heavily leaning towards UCLA. However, ESPN reported that he might be looking elsewhere. Considering our DT issues next season (especially if Brian Price leaves), which other DT prospects is UCLA looking at for this year's recruiting class?

Is Kai Maiava ineligible because of grades?

Kirifi Taula (DT from Servite)said on ESPN that UCLA had slowed down on him. Do you think there is someone who monitors what the recruits are quoted as saying? (i.e. we didn't mean to slow down on him and we still really want him)

Jon, just as a suggestion...Though I want to know the inside scoops just as much as anyone, I think it best to hold off on the "possibilities" scenario and wait until future recruits indicate their committments themselves. Why risk jinxing a good thing? Has anyone else noticed how recruits these days seem to be not only more informed, but also more sensitive to outside influences? It has always been my understanding that when a recruit gives a silent committment only to have that school leak it out, that commit may look elsewhere due to lack of trust. What do you think?

Will UCLA pursue a Medical Redshirt for DB Aaron Hester? With such promise, I would hate to see him burn this year...

We had two greyshirts last year, if they enroll, would count against this year's class. What's the status with Jared Koster and Taniela Maka?

Is it possible to list the redshirts for this year? For example, I thought I saw Brendon Sermons or Marlon Pollard play in the last few minutes of the blowout win against Washington St. It didn't make any sense to me. Was it one of them or someone else?

Jon Gold, you were really ruffling some feathers at the Howland Presser. I appreciate the tough questions about Jermie Anderson and offensive improvement, but I would advise you not to become a Simers. Howland would not be tolerant, I would imagine.

Mr. Gold, I've read from other sites that their might be a little friction between Coach Neuheisel and Coach Chow, any truths to these rumors and any chance that Coach Chow departs the UCLA program? Thank you in advance.

Jon - Long time reader, first time interrogator. I'm sure you alluded to this at this point, but I can't recall how long you've been in this biz, but ... how much tougher is your job now with the advent of blogs and the ol' 24 hour news cycle? Some people who post here appear to think you (or anyone) should be a one stop shop for all things UCLA, but is that really possible? FWIW, I think you do a great job.

I heard a recent interview with Honeycutt, and he said he had regretted choosing UCLA. Is he considering transferring?

A couple of questions that I think need to be talked about with all of the academic problems, etc. that are plagueing college sports...
1. Do you think that the academic requirements at higher institutions (like UCLA) make it harder for the schools to recruit (and get commitments from) the five star type high school players who are looking for quick trips to the NFL or NBA? Do you think the requirements are, in essence, setting us up for failure? Personally, I think we lose out on a lot of players because of it.
I doubt very much that lesser schools have the same stringent requirements, thus they can recruit players regardless of IQ or GPA. They seem to have more to choose from.
I'd love to know your thoughts.
