Cal coach Mike Montgomery on the loss
Montgomery:
"It's really disappointing. Sometimes I don't understand how we cannot treat a UCLA game as a big, big game in terms of coming out full of fire. We didn't seem to have that."

I loved how UCLA kept their composure all game and kept pecking away at the lead.
I wish they would have knocked down the free throws better. That would have helped a ton!
Honeycutt was a monster on the boards.
I worry about who is going to shoot the rock next year?! Roll and Drago are most of our offense now.
Seriously, we need some serious practice on the free throws. We gave up way too many easy buckets inside too. Most nights, we would have lost that game. Lucky to have that many 3's drop.
One of the few times an opposing coach sizes up the game perfectly. This game W was all about Cal, nothing about us. Cal must have been looking at our current record, not at our past. Most teams treat us as a big target, 'UCLA the dynasty', and jacks up their intensity to that level. This looks to be the first time this year that it did not happen.
Our intensity - good, Cal's bad. We had way too many turnovers, it was very sloppy. Cal should have run away with this game, they had no killer instinct to put it away. Seems like every chance we had, we gave them layups. The seniors hit the threes, and that kept us around long enough to get the lucky bounce before Roll's shot.
