He can apologize all he likes, but from now on, whenever I see him or his name is brought up, all I have to say is "F-CK Cooper!"

what an idiot! **** Cooper and his ghetto a$$.

His 15 minutes of fame was up 20 years ago. He got lucky riding on the coattails of Kareem, Jaamal, Magic, Worthy, Scott, etc...to his 5 rings. He is a non-factor in sports today.

The only coaching he'll ever do is WBB at SUC, where there's a lack of institutional control under a lame duck AD. He's pretty much on par of what's going on over there. Maybe he feels he's being left out of all the attention on floyd/carroll/kiffin. He'll never coach in the NBA again or WNBA for that matter.

I always had a lot of admiration for Michael both as a player and a coach. He continues to be an excellent coach, but apology notwithstanding he has lost my respect by making such a nasty inane comment in the first place. It is below any coach with any integrity to do so - WAIT, he's a trojan - do they feed them something over there that makes them more stupid and classless? Even coach Neu, who can throw trash with the best of us, would never stoop so low.

UCLA's coach showed her class by not responding to Coop's lack of institutional control. She will continue to improve our program.

Hard to believe Cooper did that. Such a disappointment.

I'll remember his better days.

Theres a reason why he will never get a real coaching job (i.e. nba, mens college basketball).

@bruinbiochem06: your "ghetto" invective is not appreciated. Idiots come in all colors; Cooper will be remembered as a great Laker, but kind of a doofus off the court. No need to inject race into the discussion; just leave it at he's a moron.

@Anonymous 7:21 pm: only an imbecile, or a Trojan, would think that was awesome. Oh, wait, they're synonymous, aren't they?

Elroy said:

Michael is a perfect fit for USC. He's classless. Only a true piece of sheeeet would say something like that to another team and you'd have to be worse than that to say it on a speaker to a bunch of kids, fans, players.

I wish idiots like this would stop embarrassing my race.

BruinFaithful Author Profile Page said:

WOW!!!! This SUC story just keeps getting better. Troy is burning. I could understand you saying something like that privately, but to the National Media? That's like punching somebody in front of the cops.

What a Classless Piece of Dung!!!! He's not ghetto, just dumb. His inability to use a properly formed thought proves it. What a burnt match chicken head. Sorry, I had to speak in language MC would understand.

MaltBaa Author Profile Page said:

sleepy la beef,
who ever said anything about race?? i believe all the dude said was that he was ghetto.. acting ghetto has nothing to do with race but a way of acting. but if you want to imply race to the term ghetto then your the racist.

Four words summarize the mess that is USC, its coaches, players, fans, and administration: "Lack of institutional control."

The entire USC campus community should have a day of mourning for itself.

"acting ghetto has nothing to do with race but a way of acting."

- Correct, sort of. The word ghetto comes from Italian, it was the word used to describe the Jewish area of Venice. So, you are correct that ghetto does not mean a specific race by any means. However, in modern parlance it does mean an enclave or place where minority groups live. That implies that being ghetto is being low class, not being a minority.

Sleepy LaBeef Author Profile Page said:

MaltBaa: Yes, I think the term "ghetto" has racial implications. Do you think anybody would call a white coach ghetto if he'd said what Cooper said? If you don't think the word ghetto, used in that way, has a racial subtext, you are incredibly naive. You also make a really silly leap to call me a racist for pointing that out.

It would be piling on to call you illiterate for not knowing the difference between "your the racist" and "you're the racist," so I won't...

Sleepy LaBeef Author Profile Page said:

Anonymous: "it does mean an enclave or place where minority groups live. That implies that being ghetto is being low class, not being a minority."

Therefore, by your reasoning, minority groups are low class, right?

Why am I arguing with idiots?

MaltBaa Author Profile Page said:

anyone could act ghetto. for example eminem has been referred to as ghetto, and it has nothing to do with race. i wouldnt call you a racist if you werent insulting other posters for stoopid stuff. did i mispell anything?

Anonymous said:

Can't blame the guy for saying what almost everyone thinks.

Isn't it curious how so many posters put down Cooper for the use of a profanity, and then they use subtle profanity to make their point.

Besides, Cooper only said what most SC people think. Just like most ucla people feel that way about SC. Face it, it is hard to like Trojans or bruins.

So what is the big deal here!

For a lawyer you're not to bright, are you? Maybe you got your law degree at from a mail order catalog?

The difference between people posting here and Michael Cooper, since you couldn't figure it out, is that Michael Cooper is a public figure representing a university as a woman's coach. He has no margin to make stupid mistakes since he's not speaking on his own behalf but on behalf of the people he represents.

We only wish that you had attended class while you were in law school, doofus.

the "deal" isnt WHAT he said - its WHERE he said it. you dont say that kinda crap in front of media, kids, coaches, and every one else - in the end it just hurts the one who said it, as were seeing now.

Yeah, you misspelled misspell.

commended for his comments, Count Coop should be, hmmm?

herh herh herh.

easy to recognize it is, those on the Dark Side.

much, including common sense, the Dark Side clouds.

impossible to see, the truth becomes for them.

some hope there may remain, for apprentice Count Coop.

courtesy he will learn, by talk or light saber.

meditate on this, i will.

Now a Coop Hater said:

F Cooper. He is dead to me now. In addition, Cooper's choice of words reflects a systemic issue at suc where the sense of "class" and dignity does not exist. Beyond Cooper's apology, there did not exist any uproar within the suc administration, which definitely would have occured if such a word to the media to comment on another university was used by any other D-1 women's b-ball coach.

Remember, you cannot spell SCHMUCK with the letters u, s, c.

I'm also now a coop hater said:

Nice post, "Now a Coop Hater". I agree with everything you said. I think you have a minor typo in your last statement...

It should read:
Remember, you cannot spell SCHMUCK without the letters u, s, c.

Other descriptive words which can be used to describe that joke of an institution spelled with that heinous (sorry for using an advanced word, trojans) combination of letters: SUCK and SCUM.

Go to hell, Cooper.

Sleepy LaBeef,

If a head coach saying "my opening statement is f*** UCLA" is not considered ghetto, then I don't know what is!

Thanks MaltBaa for backing me up.

Go Bruins!!!

BE REAL:

Again, you have proven yourself to be a Clueless Condom Moron. I don't even know why I bother. Your attitude and that of the Condom Nation is very telling and a HUGE differentiator between the two schools, maybe that's why you guys are facing multiple NCAA violations and just hired a coach who violated rules at this last employer and before arriving at his new one. I'm sure you'll be very quick to make excuses or point the finger. When it comes to the Condoms, they usually like to externalize, rather than internalize. I remember speaking to a good friend of mine regarding the violations facing SUC, who epitomized your sad alumni by saying; "I don't care if we cheat and get sanctioned, as long as we win." Doesn't that say it ALL? At SUC my friend it's ok to win by cheating. It's ok to win without class. As long as you win, right?

Your post proves that you SUCsters DON"T get it and NEVER will. Using subtle profanity and cursing in front of the media, when you are an employee and representative of a school, are two entirely different things. So what you're saying is that it's ok for a representative to say what his constituents think, no matter how rude, profane, or classless? I guess Obama should just go to the Middle East and tell them all to F Off on TV? Right? Because it's what most Americans think. You make the weakest arguments. You must have been some shhhh lawyer. At your age, I would expect you to have more self control, but I guess that's why Condoms often wet their pants.

Let's give Poop a break here, it's an obvious case of envy. Poor guy probably wanted to play for UCLA but couldn't, and while he did get to play for the Lakers, whenever he looks up at the rafters at Staples, he'll always see the jerseys of 2 Bruins up there.
