Honeycutt in, Anderson out

| | Comments (5) |

UCLA head coach Ben Howland told reporters that Tyler Honeycutt would start his first game tomorrow night against Cal, with Jerime Anderson moved to the bench for being late to a rehab session on Sunday.
Malcolm Lee will slide to the point guard spot, while Honeycutt will still provide perimeter defense.
Honeycutt adds instant size and rebounding, though Lee will have to adjust to playing the point, as he's averaging nearly two turnovers a game.
""The one thing he adds to our team is the ability to rebounder," Howland said. "Tyler is a good rebounder. Per minutes played, he has to be first or second on the team."

It's a fair and good move: though he's been given plenty of playing time, Anderson continues to get beaten off the dribble and hasn't been assertive on offense. Despite his inexperience, Honeycutt has shown flashes and deserves a chance to start. Maybe this will motivate Anderson to step up his game

Love it! Anderson has looked lost out there... Tyler is young, will make mistakes, but like Lee he shows flashes of greatness... more PT will increase this to consistency...

Pefect. Now Anderson can backup Lee and improve his game without the pressure of being the number one and Moser should be first of the bench for roll or Honeycutt.

The headline should read, "UCLA Guard Anderson benched for suckiness." It will be interesting to see how Lee handles the ball and gets it to open guys.
