Kevin Prince on Norm Chow, Pt. 2
What did you think about the news?
"I didn't really believe it. He's kind of always told us that he's going to be at UCLA for a while. Kinda been confident in the fact he'd be with us and see it through. I didn't really believe it at first but ESPN has a tendency to make things sound very official. They made it sound that way at least. You can't always trust everything you hear."
How did things progress?
"For the most part, as Tuesday progressed, hour-by-hour, sports stations, news things, they all started backing away and backing off their earlier statements. As the night progressed and into Wednesday, I think guys weren't as concerned. There was still a possibility, but I saw everybody at school and we had breakfast as a team, and I feel like everyone wasn't as concerned. Everybody still had that lingering question, but we just had to wait it out."
How can recruits pick a school and not a coach to follow?
"I was talking about that - a lot of the reason I chose UCLA is because of the school. I grew up here. UCLA is where my dad went to school, but a lot of the reason also was Coach Neuheisel and Coach Chow. It's hard as a recruit to not like a coach and want to play for him. That's a lot of reason why a lot of recruits choose to play for a school. Changes happen very quickly - as you see with USC and their coaching situation - coaching is not a very set thing."
How do you feel about Chow's comments that he stayed because, 'It's an exciting time for UCLA football?
"We all feel the same way Coach Chow does. We're all very excited on the offensive side of the ball in terms of where we're headed, what we can accomplish. We haven't lost too many guys, but for the most part, our offense has stayed intact. It helps so much to have the experience. But it definitely gives us a boost of confidence that he wants to see this program progress."

Wow, I'm impressed. A Daily News blogger that actually talks to sources and gets quotes. I am clearly not reading Second-hand Wolf.
