2011 RB Wright very interested in UCLA

Palo Verde (Nev.) running back Brandon Wright (Rivals.com recruiting profile right here: Wright) told my boy Ray Brewer of the Las Vegas Sun that he was very interested in UCLA.

Here's a link to his video: Video

This is the meat of the link.

"On a perceived slow turf at the Alamodome, he was clocked at 4.4 seconds in the 40-yard dash and benched-pressed 185-pounds a respectable 19 times — a treasured combination of speed and power.

"I am one of those backs who would rather race past you, but of course at the end of the run, I want to run you over," Wright said.

Wright, a native of Southern California, said UCLA is his dream school and at the top of his list. He also likes Cal."

Now I've heard from a very good source that DeAnthony Thomas may be leaning to SC. Wright might be the right replacement.

We dont need Wright. The only back we'll take is DeAnthony Thomas. We need DT's, OT's, 1 Elite Qb, and some WRs.

what is the point of this? im sure many 2011 recruits are interested in us...

not that many

IMHO, Wright looks just as good if not better than Thomas. I watched highlight videos of both and it appears to me that Wright is faster, shiftier and seems to have very good balance. Not to mention, he is taller and heavier. What's not to like? You can always use a top notch running back. Thanks for the info Jon.

"The 5-foot, 180-pound speedster said he has already been in contact with the likes of UCLA, Cal, Arkansas and Colorado."

well if football doesn't work out, he could always try out for the Hollywood Shorties basketball team.

wow. why so many haters. wright looks like a great prospect. even though we are stacked at the rb position right now you never know which running backs end up being busts or end up leaving.

i would hate to see him end up at cal only to turn into another marshawn lynch or jahvid best when he wants to be a bruin.

Wright is an awesome HB.. But Thomas is WAYYYYYY faster.. Thomas is the fastest high school running back I have ever seen. And I watched Darrell Scott play at Bonnie, Whitney Lewis, and Lorenzo Booker. And Thomas is faster than all of them. The only HB that might give him a run for his money in pure speed that I've seen in person is Chad Kackert.

God damn!! The number of cowardly 'sc fans who post anonymously never ceases to amaze me!
Anon writers: guys are so creative and so unique with that "Anonymous" moniker that I just have to stop, pay attention and cling onto every word you type.
LMAO! You guys are weak.

Anyway, I saw footage of Wright and what first struck me is that he is a no BS type of running back that gets the job done. Besides, he looks to be really fast. A lot of things can happen for this guy between now and signing day next year. But if Wright wants to play his heart out on a team that is undoubtedly on the rise, UCLA is the place to be.

@ Anon 5:43pm. Oh yeah, we believe you. Suuure you are a UCLA fan!

Unless you have anything of value to write, go and write some BS on Wolf's page, you Trojan tool.

Why is Wright's "verified" 40 time on the Rivals profile listed at 4.72? He looks faster than that on the video but not exactly 4.4 either...is that a misprint? 'Cause UCLA doesn't need another undersized "running back" that runs as slow as a lineman...

@ Charlie Bucket (sigh), you sc fans are so boring, arrogant and predictable that it makes for prolonged periods of ennui whenever your comments show up on ANY comment board.

Your comments = completely predictable attack on a prospective player just because he didn't choose your school and you guys are all insecure about your program's future.

He's so good he isn't even in Scout's Top 150.

But yes, he is better than DeAnthony Thomas, the #1 RB in the country.

The article says Wright is 5 foot tall, but its a typo. His bio says he's 5'10".

well, i always said i would put an end to my antics when an anon poster from Southern Cal asked nicely.

nice touch with the use of the pejorative "trOJans", Southern Cal slime...

Mamba will be a Bruin. I have it from good sources that SC is his #1, but that he is not willing to sit at home during bowl season. His family wants him to stay local and he will go to UCLA.

'We don't need Wright'? Since when do we get to choose? And why on earth would we see the possible recruitment of an elite athlete as a bad thing? We'll only take Thomas? Hahaha. You need to buy a hat, you've been out in the sun too long.
