Carnell Lake leaves UCLA
Carnell Lake is stepping down from his post as UCLA cornerbacks coach, a source confirmed.
Lake was an all-American at UCLA and an All-Pro safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens before returning to UCLA to coach the cornerbacks, including Alterraun Verner.
Lake also helped with safeties, and Rahim Moore was especially close with him, Moore said.

Why? Any guesses?
Carnell Lake, UCLA cornerbacks coach, will not return next season for family reasons, a source inside the program said.
Because he didn't like how many hours are required to do the job. Kids like him, he could coach, but was unwilling to put in the time.
I think hiring a UCLA alum to replace Lake would be great...but I would maybe like to see the team bring in someone who would really help with recruiting and there is no bigger name in NFL DB's than Ronnie Lott. Yeah I know he played for Fu$c but the guy was a stud and his impact on the NFL game was huge.
He is also the father of UCLA alum Ryan Nece so maybe he would come over to the Bruins with no ill feelings.
I hope whoever comes in can coach and recruit.
GO BRUINS!!!

Don't denegrate a man you don't know, nor have any idea why he took the action he did.
Sorry robear,
Lott is a regular sideline fan at trojan games and lives in no cal running his car dealerships.
How about James Washington as a replacement? I remember hearing he was interested in the job last year, and that he was a good teacher and recruiter.
