EXCLUSIVE: OWA ON SIGNING DAY
Owamagbe Odighizuwa, Scout's No. 8 defensive end and a five-star recruit, discussed his decision to sign with UCLA just minutes ago. He is finally relaxing after a whirlwind day that he is glad is starting to wind down.
Owa is UCLA's most college-ready recruit of the day, and could compete for a starting defensive end spot. His commitment comes as a bit of a shock, as he's told many in recent weeks that UCLA, Oregon State and Nebraska were all tied neck-and-neck. Apparently, he told him mom a little sooner.
Here's his recruiting profile: Owamagbe Odighizuwa
How does it feel to breathe finally?"I feel good, real good. The decision came down to where I felt most comfortable and where my mom felt most comfortable. I was kind of calm and collected today. I wasn't nervous much. Excited to get the decision made up."
When did you tell Coach Neuheisel?
"I called him yesterday and he was really happy. He was just like, 'I want you to be the building block to a successful program'"
Have you been following the UCLA recruiting news today? How do you feel about the class?"This is huge. This is going to be a great class. Great talent coming in, guys buying into rebuilding the program. It's going to be a great adventure."
You mentioned the comfortable feeling you had with Oregon State and the prestige you loved with Nebraska; picking UCLA, did it feel like a combination of both?"Yes, it did. Obviously, the academics was pretty big to me. With Nebraska, it's prestigious, too. They're up-and-coming, they're on the rise. They're trying to get better. Oregon State, they have a really good coaching staff, I felt really comfortable. But it kind of was like UCLA had everything."
Your mom was pretty vocal about her desire for you to end up a Bruin; when did you tell her?"I told her probably like a week ago and she was really happy. Taking the visits she took, the academics were great, but she also really felt comfortable with the people at UCLA."

Great job in recruiting. Not only for their football talent but all the interviews showed quality kids with faith.
Robby Toma (a/k/a Da Shrimp) wouldn't smell playing time at UCLA. Scout team all the way.
