From now on...
Hey guys,
From now on we're going to do two Q&As every week, one on Sunday morning, one on Wednesday morning. Readers continue to post new questions in the Answers section, and it will be much easier to just save the question for the following Q&A.
If I don't get to a certain question, repost it on the following session. You can also email me questions at jon.gold@dailynews.com, and I'll try to get to those as well.
Basically, I just don't want some good questions to get lost because I don't go back and read the comments for every post.
Some other issues after the jump...
1) Check out the podcast, try to ignore the popping sound on every B and P - I need to find ways around those two sounds - and enjoy Ben Olson's insights.
2) Next week, we'll have not one but two special guests in a random midweek chat. We might have to split them up, but trust me, you'll love the guests. Check back for updates.
3) Thank you to everyone who consistently checked the blog on signing day. An absolutely astounding 130,000 hits. That just baffles me for a college sports blog. Just imagine if I knew what I was talking about!
4) I am off on Super Bowl Sunday. I'll post a Q&A for you guys to get some questions in, but quite frankly, I hope you take the day off as well. Go have fun with friends and family. Go eat. Go drink. Don't drive. Go be merry. Go make ridiculous prop bets, such as "Will Kevin Boss have more than 1.5 catches against the Patriots." Then go watch the game, when clearly, "Kevin Boss will have one catch, and drop two more, including one directly in his chest with no one covering him." Go lose $60. Go get very upset and vow never to bet again. Then bet again.
Thanks guys,
Jon

Great Job Jon, keep up the good work
Get a radio microphone or wrap a scarf/thin cloth around the microphone you're using.
Thanks for the wonderful coverage of UCLA! Go Colts!

Jon, didn't Brian used to set a deadline and any questions posted after that were not answered. I'm surprised you're doing 2 a week when BD did it 1x a week. Answering these questions must take up a lot of time that could be spent digging for interesting tidbits of info or in-depth biographies of the athletes including some of the lesser discussed sports. Just my 2 cents.
Jon - I was listening to the podcast. After 10 Minutes, it stopped. Couldn't listen to anymore of it, and I'm sure there's alot more. Is this my (comuter?) problem, or have others experienced the same thing?
rejn,
I had no problems listening to the entire podcast last night.
Jon - What do you know about Clayton Tunney, Jr QB transfer from UC Davis? Does he have potential for some PT next year should Prince and Brehaut go down. Have you heard any comments from the coaching staff about him? Also, how concerned is the staff about the QB depth behind Prince & Brehaut? I sense the staff has little confidence in Crissman as a backup. I've read that Tunney is a dropback QB with a good arm. Thanks & Great Job with all the SD stuff!
Jon,
I enjoyed the podcasts very much. I had to listen to a couple of sections twice so as not to miss anything.
Ben is doing an excellent job as co-host. I love his passion for UCLA!
Great blog - thanks.
Jon have you heard of #15 Aaron Cantu Schurr High School Spartans Class of 2011 ? he has the size for a D1 college and a pretty good arm..
Just imagine if I knew what I was talking about!
That's funny.
junior miss "Are you Kidding Me?" - ben didn't say the depth chart/playing time issue was the *main* deciding factor, merely one of the factors, and to ignore that factor would be to do a disservice to recruits themselves. Regarding the QB talent, think it is possible Ben believes Andrew Luck is a better QB than KP? Not much of a surprise to many. Luck did a decent job this year on a team that went 6-3 conf as opposed to 3-6.
Do you expect football recruiting to be the same next year with little emphasis on early signings, or do you expect more commitments earlier?
Jon,
I really appreciate the work that you do and enjoy the material in the blog.I do not like the fact that idiots are allowed to post profane and racist remarks and wish there was some way for those types of comments to be deleted. It's fun to bag on u$c,but it is not necessary to do it with a total lack of taste. Is it possible to have some type of institutional control here?
OMG JON IS GROWING UP. ;)
oh so much to still learn! it'll be interesting seeing his transformation over the years, though let's not get him jaded bruins!
