Instant Impact?
I spoke to Scout.com's Brandon Huffman for a while yesterday, and I asked him, of UCLA's current verbal commits, who is ready to make an immediate impact?
"Malcolm Jones, first and foremost. I'm telling you - I very rarely have high expectations for a player as a freshman. But he's been waiting for this moment since 2006. He's been ready for college for three years. He adds such a dimension that UCLA hasn't had since DeShaun Foster. Malcolm is the kind of guy who can be an every down back. Just because of the speed, the power, the discipline he's just such a rare breed."

I hate to disagree with a sage like Huff here but I saw Malcom play this year, and yes he is a talent, but he's not yet ready to be a huge contributor at the college level. He'll get some snaps for sure but he's not going to be a 1000 yard guy out of the gate. Maybe 2-300 yards his first season. I hope I'm wrong but I'm just not seeing it with Malcom. Foster had the speed to get to the edge that just wasn't seen in guys that size especially at that time. I don't think Malcom has that speed.
