Some formatting issues

| | Comments (10) |

Hey guys,

I've been getting a lot of emails about technical issues with the blog, and I talked briefly with our main computer guy - and podcast engineer! shameless plug! podcast! - Steven Rosenberg, and he suggested I go to shorter posts.

Anything breaking or short enough will stay in the same format, but longer posts - such as the chats, the Q&As, game stories, etc. - will go after the jump. Basically, I want to unclutter the page and make it easier on everyone. Also, it will allow people to skip over posts they are uninterested in. For some, that is every post.

Thanks
Jon

The solution is to stop using Movable Type. Sorry, but this blog takes at least 1 minute to fully load.

Thanks for the great work on the blog Jon. But could you remove the chat windows once the chat is over (or put them after the jump). Its really irritating to have the blog jump down to the old chat window every time you enter.

See if you can get embedded chats removed after they are over so we don't get dropped to an empty chat box when we come to the site.

Thanks

What Ads?

Use Firefox and install "Adblocker Plus" add on.

You will be happy you did.

H, isn't it 'Adblock Plus'?

I counted TWENTY ads on the front page. Thats ridiculous. Your text has little to do with the slow loading.

Sounds like you guys just want more ad money.

Yes, you are correct. I was rushing; thanks for the correction

If the paper can get any kind of revenue for displaying an ad, I'm all for it, especially if it means helping to keep the paper, and the blog, going. If loading up the main page is taking too long for you, then just click on a story and navigate to the others using the Next/Previous links.
