Weekly Answers, Part 9

1) Will Jerry Neuheisel be a walk-on like his old man? - AnonymousThat sounds like his plan.

2) In your opinion do you think Prince has the talent to develope into a truly great QB? and also what are David Allens chances of starting next year at LB? thanks - lasportsfan(noSC!!)
I think Prince has it him to be a very good starter, but he needs the talent around him. Great leadership skills, great team guy. That means a lot at QB. Haven't heard much on Allen as a starter.

3) How pumped are you for the new Ben Harper/Relentless 7 Live CD/DVD coming out next month? I know i am. - UCLAWC
I can't wait. Cannot wait. Wish I was at the concert, but I saw him in Brooklyn.

4) With the commitments we have (and purport to have) do you see Chuck Bullough seriously moving to a 3-4? - la_bruin
I'm not sure it will be as easy as just switching to the 3-4. You need a true nose guard for that - which Brian Price would have been - and I'm not sure they have one.

5) It appears Taylor Embree is untouchable, but frankly feel he has under achieved the last few seasons. Does this have more to do with the WR's have underachieved? - Joe Mamma

A little of both. But I like what Embree has become. He works his butt off and he has a great attitude. He doesn't have the speed of a Randall Carroll, but he knows the playbook and he executes it.

Taylor Embree a one star recruit an underachiever?

The dude has worked his butt off to be a starter with great hands!

You want to talk about an underachiever? let's Talk about Terrance Austin.

Do we know who the QB was that bailed on the the Bruins?

Are you talking asking about Brett Nottingham?

Embree is a bright spot. He was down last year compared to previous, but showed the best hands of any of our receivers as far as I'm concerned. When I think of underachieving as a WR, I think of Terrence Austin. We thought we hit the jackpot when we landed him, and after four years just seemed OK. I was expecting Freddie Mitchell or JJ Stokes like numbers from Austin.

Anyone know the status for Marquis Jackson and Moore? Hope they are still on board. We need lots of bodies at DT and Jackson seems like a pass rush stud - more ready (maybe most ready) of incoming recruits to play a lot.

With the way the o-line play has been, non-existent running game and sub-par qb play. How can any of wr's or qb's for that matter be called under-achievers...We really have no idea!

Marquis Jackson is in. He is on board. He said so this week after visiting USC and turning them down.

Julius Moore is a big ???. Seems like he WANTS to go to UCLA, but his academics are not up to par. May go somewhere less demanding. I believe he did not fax an LOI anywhere today, but I could be wrong.

Yeah, guess it was Nottingham. Not sure why he would want to play behind Luck and miss out on being coached by Chow, but oh well....

I think Embree is a terrific receiver in the Wes Welker mold. Sure hands, good routes...he's the sort of option every QB would love to have. We've got speed and size. Embree fills his role really well. And I think he'll be increasingly productive as the OL and QB get in sync.

How can a unrated WR who has been here only for two seasons underachieve for 2 seasons? Considering the QB play the past two years, the WRs have done reasonably well.

Hey Joe Mamma,

Ju Serious? WTF, have you been watching the last two years? Obviously NOT UCLA FB, because you wouldn't have even asked this question.

Let me just ask you two questions.

1.) How many times have you seen Embree run the wrong route or drop a pass? (I bet if you used one hand to count you'd have plenty of fingers to spare)

and

2.) How many times have you seen other WRs run wrong routes or drop passes? (I bet you ran out of fingers and toes this time)

CASE CLOSED!!!!
