Weekly Answers, Pt. 2
1) Why are the heights/weights of recruits so varied between recruiting services? Where do the recruiting services obtain their measurables? - Powder Blue Balls
They are collected at different times, and most of the time, they're self-reported. But sometimes kids say different things.
2) Wow this might end up being a program changeing class that can help revive UCLA football like Pete Carroll's that brought in with S Cody and a few other high profile recruits that changed that prgram around. Who starts or plays a lot this season from the recruits we've signed and you anticipate us to sign wednesday? - Anonymous
Of the committed guys: Jones, James and Olaniyan. Of the uncommitted guys: Owa, Heimuli.
3) Is the pastrami at Agoura's better than Langer's? - BruinchickAgoura Deli is the best pastrami I've ever had. Well, no, Carnagie Deli in New York, New York. But Agoura Deli is great.
4) Do you think this class marks that start of UCLA being a TOP 25 team moving forward in another year? - Anonymous
If UCLA closes as I expect, this class and the last class have the talent of a top-25 squad. Easily. Converting talent to production is a different story.
5) We rotate DT's a lot...if we get Heimili can you see Marsh, Heimili, Epenesa, Moore and FLowers all playing this year? WHo redshirts? - ET
The more I see of Epenesa, the more I think he can compete for time. Heimuli and Marsh can definitely compete for time, but I'd expect Heimuli to get the first look, if only because he has said he intends to leave for his LDS mission after the year and the staff might want some immediate returns.

I think Jon just implied 2 of the secret commits in response to #2
Thank God you said Carnegie and not Katz's...
But then, you San Diego people are always talking crazy - like my friends who still think that Cody's is better than El Taurino - so it wouldn't have surprised me.
Good Thinking Ventura, but i still think it is Riley and Zumwalt....it would be cool to have either combo
Frankly I would be very surprised if Jon has any clue where Heimuli or Owa are signing. And that is no knock on Jon BTW.
For your enjoyment before signing day...

on rivals, it says that OWA has made his decision!!! who has a rivals account to see where he is going???
Anon 9:48, Actually, if you look at the team rankings page there are only 7 other teams have fewer 3 star commits than UCLA - and, more importantly, it looks like the bigger stars of the class fill important need positions, rather than having 7 4 star commits at the same position. Shaping up to be a good class.
Jon, you obviously haven't been to Langers which has the best pastrami in the US by far!
Zumwalt is the better prospect at LB - Sorry. I think Pullard is a solid prospect, but Zumwalt is an elite player
Is it true that ucla boosters have been in contact with Dietrich Riley? Word on the street is that he might be an ineligible recruit for ucla and that is why usc sent out the message from the compliance dept memo...anyone know anything?
BSPN Biggins:
said Tuesday he believes the Valley area's two prized unsigned recruits, St. Francis defensive back Dietrich Riley and Highland tight end Christian Thomas, both will sign with USC on Wednesday.

from H8T SuC's link: "Biggins called back to clarify his position about Riley. He said that technically UCLA is still a favorite, but not nearly as strong a favorite as everyone thinks.
"I'd say there is a 55 percent chance he will sign with UCLA, and a 45 percent chance he will sign with USC," Biggins said."
I am a big time USC fan and I come in peace. I just read that Pullard is going to sign with USC. I always thought he was a UCLA lock, can anybody confirm this commitment? Thank you in advance.
Ok, beater, assuming zumwalt is better, are we going to him? I"m not getting a good vibe on that.
Yes, all of a sudden many blogs as well as Wolf are saying Pullard might be deciding USC at last minute. Maybe Jon will have something shortly.
At the same time, Scout is indicating that UCLA has a better shot at Odighizuwa, Zumwalt and Di Poalo than previously thought.
USC might be the favorite for Crenshaw linebacker Hayes Pullard, according to Scout.com recruiting analyst Brandon Huffman.
``I would say until 10 p.m. last night it's UCLA but there are some indicators now that he will sign with USC,'' Huffman said.
WOW
any updates jon? You've been radio silent for the last couple of hours.
Can he be mustering up there rumors to create excitement about his his announcement tomorrow?
I guess I mean up until now it was widely thought he would be a Bruin, thus making people more interested in the announcement of other players. Maybe Pullard wants to add some drama...
I guess at 10:01pm last night, Lame's hostesses showed up and all hell broke lose.
Sorry meant there=these
Meant to say:
"Can he be mustering up these rumors..."
From what I've read about Pullard on Rivals through Michael Crabtree's west chat, his Dad wanted him to go to USC and I guess he recently died, so Pullard is going to honor his father's wishes. Although I might disagree with his father's decision, I can't blame him for picking 'SC.
From the Rivals chat...
[Comment From SC: ]
How did Pullard go from UCLA lock to USC lock overnight?
Tuesday February 2, 2010 3:07
SC: From what we've heard Hayes' father wanted him to be a Trojan. He has passed away and that is something that really weighed heavily on him. So unless something happens overnight it looks like he'll be a Trojan.
