1) Did we get enough impact offensive lineman? how far down was yandall on our priority list? - Maltbaa
Landing the No. 2 offensive guard in California, and from a premier school like Mater Dei, was a big boost. Overall, not enough linemen, though. I'm also speaking as a former (mediocre) lineman who believes games are won and lost at the line of scrimmage. The coaching staff looks at Yandall as an unpolished diamond. He's only played the game for a couple years. Kind of a wait and see.
2) With 3 straight top-25 recruiting classes, shouldn't ucla be a top-25 team next year? - anonymous
Completely unfair assessment. When that first group is seniors, ask me again.
3) How is our progress coming along in Benball recruiting? and thanks so much for the up-to-date coverage of all things ucla. I live in the Marshall Islands right now and use your blog as my main source of information for my beloved bruins. - Anonymous
Three of UCLA's top recruits are still undecided - PF Terrence Jones, PG Ray McCallum and SG Trey Zeigler. McCallum is down to four, including UCLA, and Zeigler is being pursued heavily by both Michigan schools. It's not looking too good on any of the three.
4) How hot is Rick's seat next season? - jaytphillipsIf they tank, hot. If they finish around 7-8 wins, like I expect, lukewarm.
5) Will panic set in if the Trojans sweep us next Sunday? - anonymousIt hasn't already sunk in?

Why panic with the Basketball team, i for one knew and expected this type of year for them, we lost Holiday and others early to the NBA and Howland was too slow to react to the early exits, i hope he lands another recruit like PG Ray McCallum or SG Trey Zeigler for next season, because if BH has another year like this one then i would push the Panic button. But I see them having a better season next year because they will have a year of experience.
Terrence Jones really looked like a good player. His team played against Kentwood and Josh Smith. Jones looked like the best player on the court. Josh has talent and is big, but is a little heavy, IMHO.

AT USC
Feb. 14, 7 p.m., Prime Ticket The Trojans humiliated the Bruins, 67-46, on Jan. 16. UCLA shot only 33% in that game and was outrebounded, 37-22. USC has swept UCLA only four times since 1942, the last being in 2004
No, we're playing the wait 'til Saturday game Trojan slug.

Hasiak is back at UCLA, taking classes, but he will transfer. Too much has happened and many in the locker room do not want to see him back.
So why is everyone mad at Hasiak? Does someone have a link to a story about that?
basically dude is a punk on the field and starts shiz with teammates.. they should find a way to work it out though. we need him.
I want to know the details of who he fought with, and what actually happened.........??
JON ????
If Rick is in the Hot seat then I'm going to throw the biggest temper tantrum of all time....LUKE WARM after a 7-8 win season vs. a ridiculous schedule????? After putting together 2 top 10 classes in a row after mediocre seasons with KD's guys?????
Come on bro, you're better than that!
CRN isn't going anywhere...stays until he wants to leave.
kd also inherited talent from toledo which explains him doing decently in the first few years. and he had that freak 10 win yr where mjd basically willed the bruins to victory on more than one occasion. kd left the cupboard bare and rn started from scratch. comparing records is simply silly. better yet, there is no comparison, rn is the bruin coach for the long haul, no question.
Let's be realistic about this indeed.
KD had ONE good season, (which btw had 3-4 total fluke victories)...that is inflating your numbers. Aside from that 10-2 season, KD's other season records are: 6-7, 6-6, 7-6, 6-7.
That 10-2 season had UPPERCLASSMEN named Maurice Drew, Marcedes Lewis, Drew Olson, Justin London, Trey Brown, Bruce Davis, Chris Horton, Dennis Keyes...who were ALL Bob Toledo recruits. (Most of the '03 guys were already committed to UCLA before Dorrell took over as coach).
So lets look at Karl Dorrell's OWN recruiting classes since:
04: Only 1 four-star player- Brigham Harwell, and one good get in Justin Hickman. No other impact players.
05: 1 five-star player (Ben Olson, we all know how that worked out) and 3 four-star players (Aleksey Lanis: bust, Shawn Oatis: bust, Aaron Ware: bust). Only impact players: 2 Boz's, Logan Paulsen, Reggie Carter.
06: 7 four-star players. Players of note : ATV, Chane Moline, Terrence Austin, Jake Dean (never sees the field), Jerzy, Sean Sheller (never sees the field).
07: 6 four-star players. Only players of note: Brian Price, Akeem Ayers, Courtney Viney, Glenn Love
SO REALLY, KD's best recruiting class was 06. In that class, only one player can be called a standout, and thats ATV. The rest have COMPLETELY underperformed.
MaltBaa
Thanks.
