Weekly Answers Redux, Pt. 5
1) Mr. Gold, any chance that the Raiders draft Brian Price? As a USC fan I really liked Price and he is definitely better than McCoy. Thank you in advance. - GilliganI don't think he goes to them at No. 8. I think that's a little too high. But it's Al Davis. I don't think he has any clue who he's taking. My guess, and this is just a hunch: a speedy wide receiver?
2) Where do you see Micah Kia fitting in on the OL? - SpencerI saw Micah out a couple weeks ago, and the dude is huge. Absolutely huge. He's just starting to get back into working on his legs, and if he puts the same vigor into his leg work as he did his upper body, he's going to be a beast. I haven't seen him play in months so I don't know about his quickness or foot speed or technique, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him fight for time.
3) What is the status of Stan Hasiak? Will he be returning to UCLA next season? - AnonymousI was told it's still undecided.
4) I felt that run blocking was one of the major offensive issues for the football team this year. Do you agree and how will they address this issue in preparation for next year? (Off-season training, spring practice and pre-season practice.) - SpencerAs Ben Olson so often points out on our podcast, having continuity in the scheme is going to pay huge dividends. With Chow and Palcic working with many of the same guys for going on three years, they will have such obvious comfort in the system, which really cannot be understated. I expect them to focus on strength and conditioning more than ever, now that nothing really has to be re-taught.
5) You've always said that EJ Woods was one of or the best prospect from RN's first class? What school did he end up transferring to? Last time we heard, he was planning on attending SMC last year then transferring to a D1 school. Any news? - bruin95gradFirst of all, I don't think I said that about EJ Woods, I didn't really know him. But here's what I found in a BleacherReport.com article about Arizona State recruiting:
"E.J. Woods, a former four-star prospect who began his career at UCLA, seemed to be a certain addition to the Sun Devils' class. However, disciplinary issues at both UCLA and Eastern Arizona College, where he attended after leaving the Bruins, have removed his name from ASU's list of targets."

It was Dohn that had the boner for Woods, not Gold. Apparently, Dohn has a thing for the "bad boys".
Yeah, a speedy wide receiver who can't catch the ball. :-)
To Anonymous,
If we are so irrelevant, why are you spending your Sunday on our blog and writing comments?
To Brentwood Bruin,
Your obviously not a bruin and most likely a fan of the other guys across town. Why read a blog if you aren't a fan or enthusiastic about the program and the future.
It's obvious why these idiots are here, it's because they're losers. They couldn't get into a real school so they bought their way into the diploma mill known as SUC. Everyone that knows about the schools involved knows the story but these losers have such hang-ups about being losers that couldn't go to a real school, they constantly try to compensate by messing with people better than themselves. Boo-hoo, you couldn't get into a real school, so mommy and daddy paid $40,000+/year to send you to a diploma mill in south central or what's even more sad is that some of you don't even have a rich mommy and daddy, you just took loans that'll take the rest of your life to pay off to go to a trash dump like SUC.
No, ma'am, I didn't get bothered, I'm laughing as I type. I'm sure all the SUC toejam losers are overdosing on sleeping pills though knowing the football program, their only glimmer of sunshine at that trash dump of a school, is about to be flushed down the toilet when the NCAA infractions committee meets this coming week.
How about not posting anonymously? Or are you still working on a clever name? An anonymous poster is like Lane Kiffin - no reputation, no accountability. So stop watching Keeping up with the Kardashians to see Reggie Bush, and register a name.
Uhh, hey SUC retard, I'm checking a blog about my school "ravenously" as you put it. Now, explain why you're here checking it "ravenously"? Pathetic looooooooser.
Brentwood Bruin...
You really have to get away from the westside and out of L.A. in fact and you'd find out that other parts of the country that don't live and die by the football program (i.e. the South) are blown away by the athletic accomplishments of UCLA and the PAC-10.
Your statement..."All other sports are a wash. As much as we like to pat our backs about our accomplishments in them, they do not sway the public perception of our program." is just wrong.
Presently, UCLA, Stanford and Southern California have the most NCAA championships; UCLA with a combined 104 team championships in men's and women's sports, Stanford in second with 97 and SC 87.
Stop with the ESPN/SI mentality already believing that an institution's sports identity is linked only to the money sports.
Brentwood Bruin, "Aston Martin" in sports? Maybe you mean "sport" not "sports." Sc is not good at multiple sports. Maybe a stolen Aston Martin in college football........and that's it!
Ooops....meant to write "Trogans" not "trojans." Surely the "g" sound can't be actually written as a "j."
