Bobo Morgan dismissed from UCLA basketball team

UCLA sophomore forward J’mison Bobo Morgan will not be returning to UCLA next season, head coach Ben Howland announced today.

Morgan will leave UCLA immediately and has not made a decision where he’ll transfer, though Baylor could be in the mix.

Morgan averaged 2.1 points and 1.1 rebounds in 40 career games while shooting 46 percent from the field.
“I feel that is is in the best interest of this program and for J’mison Morgan that he no longer be a part of this team,” Howland said in a release. “We are suppotive of him and his future in whatever direction he decides to go.

Howland will hold a teleconference at 2:30.

wow. maybe some of his recruiting assistants should be dismissed from the team as well. what the hay?!

  • Jono

Can’t say I’m surprised…. here’s to hoping Josh Smith will be enough

  • ME

Rumor’s that Donny Daniel’s may leave UCLA to be an assistant under Mark Few at Gonzaga? What??

Are there issues with Howland and his players/staff?

  • SBBruin

Soft schlub? Yeah, his defense was WAY worse than Dragovic’s…

He never got a fair shake here, and I wish him all the best. Good luck Bobo.

I thought VB was the only waste of oxygen in pauley.

“But I tailgate at football games and kiss the beat reporter’s ass – don’t hassle me bro!!”

guess i spoke too soon…InsideUCLA is reporting Danny Daniels is leaving the program to work with Mark Few at Gonzaga

C’mon, VB! Aren’t you going to miss all the dipsh!ts yelling, “Put Bobo in! Put Bobo in!” Only to watch him slog down the court and play no defense whatsoever. Heck, even Drago played better D than Bobo! He never demonstrated any work ethic. He had all the opportunity with the strength and conditioning staff to get into shape, but he remained a doughboy. Trent Johnson looks like a genius! He goes to LSU and Bobo commits to UCLA. Trent is probably laughing his azz off!

Is this the first of many??? What the heck happened this year behind closed doors??? Players, coaches… everyone is leaving.

  • UB (Ultimate Bruin)

Time for fresh meat, Larry. Out with the crap, in with the new. Hey, Jerime? Why don’t you do us all a favor and follow Bobo to some D2 school.

  • MichaelRyerson

SBBruin, ‘He never got a fair shake’??? WTF? don’t make me laugh, the guy gets a ride at one of the elite Div 1 schools in the country and shows up 45 pounds overweight and you say he didn’t get a fair shake? And some of you guys are blaming the coaching staff for not knowing the guy was a knucklehead? Fer cryin out loud, he was held out of windsprints for fear he was going to have a heartattack! yeah, didn’t get a fair shake.

  • SBBruin

Michael — 45 pounds overweight? He was listed his freshman year at 6’10” 248. You think he should have come in at 6’10” and 203 pounds? Right…

While I agree he was pretty soft when he came he did lose 8-10 pounds between his Freshman and Sophomore year while working some of that flab into muscle and looked fine this last year. Point is he was making the effort.

And don’t tell me Dragovic was more deserving of playing time. That guy is the most worthless player in UCLA history.

  • MichaelRyerson

I didn’t say a word one way or the other about Dragovic, he’s gone so he’s yesterday’s news. I’m saying (and I don’t care how he was ‘listed’) this doughboy was a cool 45 lbs overweight. and the news of him being held out of windsprints was from this year.

  • yabooo

Dragovic was far more deserving of playing time than Bobo.

I guess nestor and his gang of mindless minions are not happy posting on their site of hatred any longer.

Give it a rest on Dragovic. We already know you hate him.

But I do agree with you on one point. I wish the best for bobo in his future
