Long Range?
UCLA sophomore guard Malcolm Lee is shooting just 13 percent from 3-point range during the conference schedule, having made just six-of-46 attempts.
Last season, Lee made 6-of-20 3-point tries, but he dedicated himself in the offseason to refining his shot.
"He's a better shooter than that," UCLA head coach Ben Howland said. "There's no question. He's a better shooter than 13 percent. Some of it I'm sure has to do with confidence. Confidence is such a big part of being a good shooter. I fully expect he'll shoot much better than that in the future."
13% !!! Holy treys Batman... now I know why I cringed every time he tossed one up from long distance
Managing the offense from the point makes it difficult to maintain a scorer's mentality. A physically & mentally healthy Anderson along with incoming freshman Tyler Lamb will be needed to put Lee back to his slash n shoot style at the #2.
Further, Lee and much of the team need to pack on about 10 lbs of good lean muscle to get back to the Howland trademark in-your-face suffocating, physical man-to-man defense along with the hard ball screens. This year's off-season lifting & conditioning regimen is as important as ever.
He had what I hoped would be a breakout game at Notre Dame. He seemed to score at will, and his hot jump shooting opened up driving lanes. What the heck went wrong after that? (I know he was quote unquote playing out of position, but basketball is basketball!)
Better than 13%, Ben...ya think? Way to stick your neck out...maybe by the time he’s a senior he'll hit 20%. This season has jaded me...I need a good long off-season to cleanse myself of this abomination we call the 2010-11 UCLA men's basketball team.

We should not be surprised by the team's crappy effort/record. Let's see...It's true Michael Roll was a better Brandon Loyd, Malcolm Lee is slightly better than Rico Hines, Dragovic wishes he was as good as Tracy Murray from long range, I liken Reeves Nelson to a stronger, more powerful Travis Reed, and Jerime Anderson? Honestly, I cannot remember a lousier PG going back to '85! JA might be the biggest PG bust this early on since Cedric Bozeman! With all these busters, it's no wonder we sucked!
travis reed and nelson are nowhere near comparable.. i only remember reed having one good season, even if reed was stronger and more powerful they wouldnt be comparable.. never seen a player like nelson before in my life.. not saying he is the best ever, i just cant think of anyone with his style, at least in a UCLA uniform.
Let's stop talking about this season - too painful
I want to ask Bruin Nation to do the following. Write letters to Coach Ben H. stating:
1) Run, "Stop smiling after your turnovers" Anderson and Bobo, out of town
2) Fire the entire ast. coaching staff for recruiting all these busts
3) Fire the trainer - way too many injuries over the past 4 yrs
4) Recruit Ray M. harder
5) Recruit big guys even harder
Bobo - I give up on you. You have no "O" and no "D"
