Post-practice update

* More physical today, though most tackles were not to the ground.
* The wideouts had a case of the drops, but most were in heavy traffic.
* Tight end Joseph Fauria appears to have either broken or jammed the middle fingers of his right hand and was in tremendous pain as he walked back to the training room to get taped up. Rick Neuheisel expects him back on Thursday though.
“He should be ready to go Thursday,” Neuheisel said. “They’re gonna x-ray it, but I don’t think (it’s broken). I think it’s just a major jam, but it swelled up pretty good.”
* Damien Thigpen and Morrell Presley are impressing at the F position, UCLA’s version of an H-back.
“We’ve got a couple different ideas for Damien – we’re working him in some slot stuff,” Neuheisel said. “A little receiver slash running back. We know he knows how to play running back so we’re dedicating this time to learning some more receiver skills.”
* Presley had a huge block on a Johnathan Franklin touchdown run, and drew catcalls from his teammates.
“That big run we had run down here was courtesy of a Morrell block,” Neuheisel said. “He embraces the physical nature of the position as well as liking to catch the ball.”
