Quotables: Bob Palcic

On the offensive line progression:
“This is the best spring we’ve had since I’ve been here. I’m pleased with their work ethic – we’ve had a few more injuries than I would’ve liked – but I’m happy about the way they’re progressing. We’re running the ball better. Things are going very well.”

On offensive line continuity:
“I think it’s huge, that continuity. I have all the players back except Nick Ekbatani, Jake Dean, Xavier – but the nucleus of the line is back, and we’ve been together now for three years. We’re starting to see some rewards and progress for that.”

On the early left tackle battle:
“It is too early, but I think Sean Sheller is getting back to the form he showed me my first year here. Then he went through that knee reconstruction, and it’s taken him this long to finally get back to his original playing form. I’m hoping he continues to progress. Then Micah Kia comes back in the fall, and we have some depth at the position.”

On Wade Yandall enrolling early:
“That’s a great advantage for a young kid, because he gets an extra spring. He’s going to be a good player. But you know what? You know what I want to do? I want to get this program to where I don’t have to play freshmen. At some point in my career here, I’d like to get to the point where I could redshirt the freshmen like normal places. I’ve had a freshman at left tackle my two years here! That’s insanity!”
