Quotables: Kai Maiava
On the knee injury:
"It was a pass play and I was blocking left and somebody fell right and I just tumbled."
On his regrets:
"Missing the bowl game, the spring game was one of the things I was looking forward to. 'SC was my last game. I wanted to come out and show everybody I grew up and that mistake won't happen again. I'm just bummed about the whole spring. I wanted to come out and bang a few people. All I can do is keep getting treatment and get ready for fall."
On his timetable for return:
"It was a moderate tear. They said two months or six weeks. I'm surprised how well I can walk around already. I'm walking normal. I can't put weight on it. That's already better than the first time I tore it when I got here."
On the offensive line:
"We're doing all right for now. We've got a lot of injuries. There's still a lot of mixing and matching. The guys we have this year are bigger and stronger. Wade Yandall is doing good for a freshman. I think our chemistry is where it needs to be."

" ... show everybody I grew up and that mistake won't happen again" To what mistake is he referring? Not getting injured, one assumes.
He's talking about me and how he was ineligible for the bowl game due to slacking in the classroom!
I'm sure he regrets doing poorly in school because he was suspended from the bowl game against Temple for that reason.
I'm not worried about the injuries during spring, I think most of these injuries a la Fauria, or Maiava, Abele will be fine come fall , I just feel bad that they can't compete in spring . I feel like our O line can take a big step forward this summer, in increasing strength, techniques, and knowing their new assignments .
