Bad news, good news
First the bad: Jalen Grimble, the Bishop Gorman defensive end, has verbally committed to USC. I thought UCLA had a really good shot at him, but clearly the signing of his cousin Xavier ('09 No. 1 TE) had an influence. I've learned not to count Neuheisel out on anything, though.
Now the good: I was told by a close friend of Darius Bell that he will be at UCLA after he graduates in June, "if" he graduates in June. Scout.com's Brandon Huffman is reporting the same thing. The big news, though, is that Bell's arrival could have something to do with the increased role of the Revolver offense.
We all know verbal commitments mean nothing at this point...

there is no good news here..... Grimble is wayyyyyy more important than Bell. This hurts ALOT. Clearly we are going to have our hands full in dealing with Kiffin and co.

Jalen Grimble is going to be a stud. Coach Orgeron and Monte Kiffin are going to attract top defensive talent. unless ucla has a great season, i dont see him changing to the bruins
Grimble's a stud but we are loaded at DE. We have Datone Jones, Holmes, Tepa, Graham, Owa, Bryant and maybe even Barr or Shirley. We need OLine and DT's
After watching the spring game, I wonder if the coaches' concern level increased. I know mine did.

quality at DE. Quarterback depth is a worry.

Randall Carroll and Sheldon Price have been ruled academically ineligible for the Spring...and
you're suspended indefinitely as a "beat" journalist...
I don't cover UCLA track, and Carroll and Price were not ineligible for practice, just competition. They won't miss any football time unless they don't get their stuff in order.

Losing Grimble is way worse than the good news on Bell. Everyone always struggles with our offense so I don't see a JC QB grasping the playbook so fast.
I agree with cali. Get the best player possible. The kid is huge he might grown into a DT. Ask yourself this, who had the greater potential to be a star for UCLA? That is the player I want.
