Malcolm Lee tears right meniscus

| | Comments (16) |

UCLA junior guard Malcolm Lee tore his right meniscus playing basketball on Sunday, and he will have have arthroscopic surgery next week to remove a portion of the meniscus (cartilage) in his right knee, head men's basketball coach Ben Howland announced on Thursday. Lee had an MRI on Wednesday, which revealed the extent of the injury.

Lee, who is expected to be out for four-to-six weeks, averaged 12.1 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists as a sophomore.

"Malcolm has been performing very well during our off-season workouts," Howland said. "We expect he will be better than ever following the surgery."

Fingers crossed so tight right now, my hand's starting to cramp. Good luck, Malcolm, hang in there, and attack your rehab.

Not really bad news...UCLA will just have another bad season, but be well positioned to get a good draft pick...wait...what's that? College teams don't get draft picks so there's no reason to have a bad season? Oh, darn!

VB, all I have to say is that is a pretty brutal "heartless" comment for you to post out there without knowing the kid. I know for 110% MALCOLM LEE is far from a Heartless kid on the UCLA squad.. and until you know facts regarding CHARACTER, I would stay away from that... doesnt look too classy when older grown ups question a kids character when in fact he is a great kid.. this has been a proven fact. Get yours straight!

VB never knows WTF he's talking about and knows even less about keeping his idiotic thoughts to himself..

Malcolm is a good player and a good student. I haven't seen anything from him to justify bagging on the kid. Every single player that we recruit isn't going to be a ridiculous stud by his sophomore year. There is nothing wrong with a kid progressively developing throughout his career and reaching his peak in his junior or senior year.

Hey VB, when did you attend UCLA? Oh that's right, you never got in because you're a retard. Stop making comments about our school and athletes.

VB. Ignorance is the only explanation I can come up with for why you'd say such a thing. Beyond being untrue it is also thoughtless and cruel. These young men don't deserve that kind of hyperbole. It really only reflects on you.

The kid plays with heart; everybody said he worked 110% during the summer. However, that does not always translate into performance on the court. I wish him the best....he puts too much pressure on himself. Based on the expectations after freshman year, we all thought he was going to be great...however, he underachieved.

It's funny. You can get a hangnail or a broken back and you're always going to be out 4-6 weeks.

Was hoping a newborn might stem the flow of VB's know-nothing douchery. Nope.

Good luck with your recovery Malcolm, gonna need you big time next year.

Son, you know how to turn a phrase!

So far afield from LG's cliched "110%."

Now, I'm a writer not a mathematician, but I don't think it's possible to have more than the sum of the whole, even with an abundance of hyperbole.
