FROM UCLA:

Seven UCLA football games have been selected early for television, it was announced today. ESPN has selected three games while ABC and Fox Sports Net have chosen two each.

ABC has chosen two games as part of its Big 12 agreement. The Bruins will open the 2010 season at Kansas State on Sept. 4 and ABC will televise that game at 2:30 pm CT/12:30 pm PT. On Sept. 25, the Bruins travel to Austin to face Texas and ABC will televise that contest at a time to be determined 12 days prior to the game.

On Sept. 11, the Bruins host Stanford in the home and Pac-10 Conference opener at the Rose Bowl. ESPN will televise the game nationally, beginning at 7:30 pm.

UCLA will also be featured on two ESPN Thursday night national contests - October 21 vs. Oregon in Eugene (6:00 pm) and Nov. 18 in Seattle against Washington (5:00 pm).

FSN has also made two early selections involving UCLA games. The Bruins' Sept. 18 home game versus Houston will be televised nationally beginning at 7:30 pm. In addition, their game at Arizona State on Thanksgiving Friday will also be televised nationally, beginning at 1:30 pm MT/12:30 pm PT.

Fox Sports Net and Versus are scheduled to make additional early selections on June 1. FSN's contract with the conference calls for 18 Pac-10 home games and seven of those dates have been sublicensed to Versus.

Those games not selected early by ABC/ESPN or FSN and Versus are still eligible for selection during the season. ABC/ESPN and FSN and Versus make in-season selections 12 days prior to the date of a game.

Sweet, two evening games at the RB in September! Those of us that remember Bama in 2000 and Michigan in 2001 are pleased.

Some nice exposure for each of our road games this year as well.

...whoops, Michigan was also in 2000; I guess heat stroke has affected my memory a bit.

Nothing better for my tailgate than late starts in September! Tailgating really stinks when it's 90 degrees or more out at the Rose Bowl. This is going to be a great, great season!

Er, Jonny Boy, did you happen to ask what happened to the Dec. 4 game, specially designated television date for suck, otherwise known as usc?
(or is there a presumption that sc will be banned byt the NCAA, costing UCLA it's biggest game of the year?)
Didn't it seem to you something was missing from that list to ask about? huh?

Shoot, I hope Versus doesn't pick any UCLA games to broadcast, I don't get them on my sports package.

Evening games at the RB may be great for tailgaiting, but horrible for national exposure. Everybody on the east coast will either be out or asleep. I prefer a 3:30pm start.

All these Nationally televised games should really boost the recruiting on a national level. As for the fans locally, why would you not want to just attend the games in person? you can get a whole package for general admission for I think $99.00 (minus the USC game) and there is not a bad seat at the Rose Bowl. I would encourage all the UCLA Bruin fans to go support the Bruins at the RB and let the rest of the country know that there is in fact another team in L.A. - it would be pretty embarrasing to have too many empty seats during these telecasts. And furthermore there is no place like the RB to tailgate, right in the middle of a beautiful Golf Course - are you kidding me? Let's go Bruin fans!! let this be the year in which you begin to show your support. Go Bruins!!
