I'm guessing 2 6'10 230 lb dudes down low wouldn't hurt...sit one year per transfer rules and then 3 years of eligibility.
Word on BRO is that the Wears are coming to UCLA. Here are their stats from last year will playing for a decidedly modest Tar Heel team.
Travis Wear played in 32 games for the Tar Heels this past season, averaging 10.3 minutes, 3.5 points and 2.2 rebounds per game.
His brother played in 27 games - missing the final five games because of a hip injury that required surgery in early March - while averaging 10.5 minutes, 2.9 points and 1.7 rebounds per game
I'm not so sure... they didn't play much at UNC, what makes them good enough for UCLA? I'm not one for sloppy seconds.
Also... I read this on Bruin Nation several days ago before Frank Burlsion reported anything... old news!
yeah, UCLA BB is so good right now that we definitely don't want/need two guys we fought hard for just a year or so ago... dope.
We have schoarships, we need players, and this could be huge! I mean huge! Sloppy seconds... please.
Guys- Let's not get ahead of ourselves! Let the story unfold first before we either lick our chops or start talking smack about how much we didn't want them anyways...
Good Job Jill!
They will end up at Cal, SDSU, PEPP, LBSU, Gonzaga or Hawaii
All this is WEARing me out!
I really hope we land them this time around. I hope one of their reasons for transfering out is cause they were home sick. What better place to be than UCLA!
Averaging 10 mins a game as a freshman isn't bad. Give them a year in the weight room and they could be good contributors, especially if there don't appear to be other options in the next couple of years on the recruiting trail.
"Averaging 10 mins a game as a freshman isn't bad. Give them a year in the weight room and they could be good contributors"
wouldn't that be the same analysis for North Carolina? if they are letting them go, maybe they know they will not meet their potential; unless, the twins want to leave because of other issues: not getting along withe coach/players, not liking the campus/community, etc.
"wouldn't that be the same analysis for North Carolina? if they are letting them go"
UNC isnt getting rid of them, they want to leave and are requesting a release. big difference buddy
I remember when Jrue sucked as a freshman too. Definitely wouldn't want him around still, would we?
We'll need someone to take over for Bobo. *cough*
I remember when Drago sucked as a freshman... and as a sophmore... and as a junior... and as a...
I think you get the point.
Maybe these kids are good, but question is WHY are they leaving. If because home sick, or coach relationship issues, etc. Ok then. But if because they were not developing or playing up to expectations, do we really think anything will change if UCLA picks them up? Don't want another Bobo (but x2) on the team taking up 2 scholorships. Besides, they have to sit out a year anyhow. We need help NOW, forget a year from now.
If you have the chance to get two 7-footers, you take it. Case closed!
'Not developing'? haha. where do you guys get this crap? Check out UNC's recruiting problems as voiced by the head coach...he's scrambling to find quality players to come in now and shore up his suddenly thin front line. Yeah, not developing. lol. thanks, I needed that.
According to Scout.com, the Wear twins are 6-9, not 7-foot.
the wear twins like to play in skeechers "shape ups." they are easily 7'2"
And if you look at the media guides, they list themselves as 7'4" :o).
Dohn might have been a moody snob, but at least he BROKE news instead of REPORTED IT!!!!
Moody snob is right.
Dum-Bobo: 8.7min 1.9pts 1.3reb
Mike Moser: 4.7min 0.6pts 0.5reb
Travis Wear: 10.1min 3.5pts 2.2reb
David Wear: 10.4min 2.9pts 1.7reb
UCLA: 14-18
UNC: 20-17
Basic arithmetics, folks. We are already ahead even if we only get one. Of course they are a packaged deal. So it would be a major coup if BH can pull it.
GO BRUINS!
Ben Howland does wonders with big men. UCLA is a powerhouse for frontcourt players & these two have enough talent to bring the Bruins back to where you were two years ago. I'm obviously hoping that they go to Arizona (where Derrick Williams could move back to his natural position of PF), but the twins would excel at either school. Good luck, UCLA!
