Weekly Q&A

Hey guys,

Fire away with questions for this week’s Q&A. Please don’t post new questions on the answers section, because I don’t always check the comments. Save them for next week.

I’ll finish off last week’s leftover questions shortly…

FOOTBALL: Can you please let us know about the status of Darius Bell, quarterback from SFCC. There are persistent rumors on the Internet about him that (1) he’s coming to UCLA and (2) he’s so great that he’s going to start ahead of Prince and relegate Brehaut to a red shirt year. For the record, I don’t believe any of it.

how many WR’s are we looking at taking this recruiting season? any names you see us in the running for?

  • MaltBaa

when are the incoming freshmen aloud to come in and start using the facilties?

  • Anonymous

should we be concerned that neuheisal seems to take a non-proactive approach when it comes to recruiting? We pulled in a couple of good players last year but that was probably due to a coaching change at usc (like with Riley). Can our football team survive with that approach, especially with the commitments usc has already for 2011? appreciate it.

  • MaltBaa

do we have any silent verbals?

  • Spencer

Any update on Remi Barry? What are the chances that he signs with UCLA? And what are the chances that he’s academically eligible?

  • Tustin Dave

    How about doing a poll?

Are UCLA fans happier when UCLA wins or when USC loses (or based on this week – when SC gets put on probation again).

  • theuclan

with sanctions looming sc is still able to convince kids to sign there – could it be they cant make the grade at ucla? is it something else? I understand southern cal has been dominate but they lost their coach and could face sanctions? is it cold hard cash?

Have you heard anything about another Stan Hasiak temper flare up? If so, what’s the scoop as you can tell it?

  • Anonymous

Who are we pushing harder for, Hundley or Kessler? Have you had the chance to speak to them?

  • Mike H class of 90

Per Scout, we have no offers out to PG in 2011, 2012 or 2013 at this point. We have a JC transfer coming in and another G who may or may not be a true PG (Carlino), so this is still a major need, imo. Why no offers? Anybody we’re looking closely at?

  • MaltBaa

how much time do you spend on campus nowadays?

  • Football Fanatic

Does UCLA have any shot at Kessler? The coaches seem to have gotten into the game late after a number of other schools offered including USC.

  • Jon

    Hey Jon,

What are UCLA’s chances as far as landing Memphis transfer Roburt Sallie?

  • crickets

Is there any chance a legal team from USC is causing a delay in the announcement of NCAA sanctions for whatever reason?

  • diehardbruin

UCLA coaches explained the use of the revolver as a means to improve our running game. Can you explain how this would work? How does this relieve the OL to block better then they did in 2009? If we have to rely on Prince to get the running game going, what are the chances he gets injured and we are back at square one mid-season?

Assuming Lee & Honeycutt leave. Could you give me your projected 2 deep @ PG, SG & SF for the 2011-2012 season. Should we be worried about this?

  • captainqtp

There is some talk on the BRO forums about a LB walk on named Phil Ruhl. Do you have anything official on that? Has he been accepted and/or admitted to UCLA? Anything else you know about him?

  • captainqtp

I read on BRO that a LB named Phil Ruhl is walking on. Can you confirm or provide more info? Thanks.

  • Texas Bruin

Any idea how one can get away game tickets through UCLA (as opposed to Stubhub or the like)?

  • Anonymous

do you know where Milton is transferring to? and if not can you let us know when you find out.

  • Ben G

If the NBA rosters were reset according to colleges attended, ie: a team of all UCLA players, all Arizona players, all UNC etc.. Only using active players, who do you think would win in a tournament? Who would our starting five be? Discuss amongst yourselves readers.

  • Bruin ’05

How do the Wear twins compare to the Lopez twins of Stanford a few years ago compare? Do you think they will turn into similar type players?

  • Jacob

Being a fellow Broncos and Bruins fan, which team do you think will be better this next year?

  • old bruin

Will the 2010/11 BB team lean more to a running game or a set piece offense. What personnel are the key in either style?

  • Pyperkub

Why does everyone assume the ESPN deals with the SEC and ACC are bellweathers for a better Pac-10 TV contract? It occurs to me that ESPN has mostly shunned the Pac-10, and is more interested in the east coast markets (and time zone).

Are we still in the hunt for darrell scott?

  • gilligan

Mr. Gold, what are the pros and cons of having a small allotment of scholarships available for UCLA’s recruiting season? Thank you in advance.

  • Ben G

Who has the hottest GF on either team? Which player would we be suprised to learn has a hot GF?

  • bibs

You are really doing a good job with this blog. Do you think that CRN will let some players go at the end of the season in order to gain some scholarships? Same for the basketball team.

  • Reformed Droog

Why haven’t you cured cancer yet? And how could you POSSIBLY do something other than write about UCLA 24 hours a day?

  • Bruin ’05

Let’s say Forbath continues to do what he does and wins another Lou Groza… do you see him go high in the NFL draft (like Mike Nugent of Ohio State in ’05 at 2nd Round 47th Pick)?

BRO is reporting Stan had another flare-up. Have you heard anything about this “incident” or are $UC trollers making this up?

  • gerry4ucla

Is there a walk-on lineman that the coaches feel are worthy of Abele’s scholarship this season? Is there a lineman from this year’s freshman class that could help?

  • okay

    How is John wooden’s health?
