Quick chat with Brock Berglund
Brock Berglund called just before running into practice, but we got caught off after a couple questions. We'll pick it back up later or tomorrow, but here are a couple of quotes from the Colorado quarterback, who looked very impressive at UCLA's one-day camp on Sunday.
Berglund is a major priority for the Bruins, and he was ecstatic about the offer he received Sunday night.
Here's his Scout.com profile: Berglund
Quotes after the jump...
How was the camp?
Brock Berglund: "I loved the camp. It was great being with Coach Chow and Coach Neuheisel, seeing how they coached. That was a big reason I went down there, to see how they interacted with me. It was a success to go down and get an offer. I threw a lot of balls, so it was a little hard to throw, but I was pretty pleased with my performance."
Given UCLA's need for a quarterback and their obvious interest, how excited are you about the offer?
BB: "Extremely excited about the offer. I've probably wanted to go there since I was 6 years old. Right now they really need a QB for 2011. They're open. They have a lot of sophomores, and the way the position will open up soon, this is a big class for them. He needs a guy who can lead the program for a lot of years. And coach Neuheisel sees that in me."

the video scout.com put up of his highlights from the camp were not impressive at all.
His junior year HS numbers are impressive, especially the 1000+ rushing yards and 14 rushing td's, but I'll wait till after his senior year before passing judgment.
Looks like decent potential, especially if we're running The Revolver still. Always like a kid who sounds like he REALLY wants to come here, too.
Malt baa,
Make sure that when you comment about scout.com's video, also mention how many throws he made the day before at an out of state camp.
These are the type of comments that stick, when it's delivered without adding all the facts.
I too agree that the vid didn't look good but I'd rather look at the numbers then a short vid with WR's he's never thrown to, or where he just threw many many balls at a different camp.

Since Berglund himself was quoted saying he threw a lot of balls, I found it redundant to state it in my comment.
the only thing i am guilty of is pointing out the obvious.
Sounds like a commit to me.
The dropped passes and 'misconnections' might have been due more to bad hands and poor route-running by the intended receivers than to Brock's passing ability. He carries himself with authority and self-assurence. He's very balanced and quick in getting back into the pocket. He is always looking downfield and doesn't give a tip as to where the ball is going. The ball is always held in the correct shoulder height and cocked position. He delivers the ball crisply and follows through with the proper technique. He looks like a leader and is already a man among boys. Brock would be a huge get for the Bruins. Go Coach Rick!!
He is ranked the number 15 rated quarterback by espn. I think they know what their talking about
I live in Highlands Ranch, CO where this kid goes to school. I intend on watching some of his games this year, I'll keep everyone informed!
