Pomee officially uncommitted to UCLA

The saga of Junior Pomee continues.
The Rancho Verde tight end – profile here – who verbally committed to UCLA on July 1 after almost doing the same to Arizona, was wowed by his recent attendance at Florida’s camp, and is now very high on the Gators.
I spoke with him for a few moments yesterday, but he was just getting home from the funeral of a teammate, and I wasn’t going to push for answers. I’ll try to reach him again tonight.

To be honest, I think this is a case of a kid being allured by the hoopla and attention, and the buzz on Pomee has certainly soared. He went from legit offers from Idaho and Nevada to being courted by Florida. We’ll see how it all works out, but I wouldn’t write him off just yet.

*Special props to Bruinbeatch, who called this basically the day after Pomee verbally committed to UCLA.

*I took out the reference to Uko’s dad, which was supposed to be Uko’s coach, a reference to a failed interview attempt last November with a few blog readers. My apologies.

    @Jon “*Special props to Bruinbeatch”

    That is frickin funny stuff!

  • HAHA, I kinda liked that too.

This may be a dumb question, but why are you trying to talk to George Uko’s dad? Is he open to be recruited again? Thanks!

  • spedjones

no, he really meant Uko’s coach – Jon promised he’d try to get an interview but could never quite pull it off.

  • BruinFan

I don’t get the reference to Uko at all. Jon, can you please explain?

  • Reformed Droog

At one point, Jon kept trying to get an interview with Uko’s coach. Some of the posters jokingly gave him a hard time about it for months.

Thanks for the props Although I would have been happier if your blog read ” Bruinbeatch you were wrong Pomee to UCLA”.The kid did amazing at the Florida camp but your right he is caught up in the hype!Oh well Rick will Fight Fight Fight!

Hard to turn down an offer from a team in the national picture.

Just wanted to say, I’m glad to see that no comments here are badmouthing Pomee. He’s obviously enjoying the recruiting process and is very excited to visit/receive interest from quality football programs. He’s done nothing wrong by UCLA in my book, he’s just being honest. I’m sure Rick will keep recruiting him hard. Is it 9/4 yet?

  • spedjones

I think the reason for no shots at Pomee is that this news is several days old. Guys on BRO and BG have already taken their shots.

  • Bruinlover

If he doesn’t want to come to UCLA, then we don’t want him! Good luck finding any playing time at UF…..

  • spedjones

uh, no, you’re wrong bruinlover. If CRN only focused on guys who he knew had to be at UCLA we’d have a very small and crappy team.
