And another one: ARC OL Casey Griffiths

| | Comments (18) |

American River College guard Casey Griffiths has committed to UCLA and will be available for this season, joining the team shortly.

The 6-5, 280-pound offensive lineman was an all-league OL for Wood Creek High before playing a season at ARC.

Though Griffiths will enroll this season, UCLA has been working hard on its offensive line of the future, as four linemen have verbally committed for the Class of 2011.

Griffiths could compete for a spot on the wide-open offensive line, and it will be interesting to see how he stacks up starting Aug. 9.

Let's get a good QB for them to protect!

since Huffman hasn't reported it, Gold hasn't reported it... but let me - Bell's in. Just get Hundley now and we're set.

We have all known about Darius Bell for a long time now spedjones, what is this inside information you have the proves the Bell is officially in and not still just a verbal that is still trying to get in?

Hey spedjones:

Why do you have to be such an asshole? Go read something else if you have to be such a hater.

Check scout now - Bell's official. Sorry to burst your bubble friendly guy, just reporting news as it happens, not way, way after.

Do what we do on the SC blog where spedjones loves to spill his vitriolic diatribe-- don't read him.

As for offensive linemen, that is one of the most difficult positions to play, and thus to evaluate. It takes several years at the pro level to become efficient. And so, the jury is out regarding how well these supermen high schoolers will play out at the next level. I mean, at 280 who isn't going to be a baller in high school!

instead of bitching at me, why not ask Jon where the story is? Or, for that matter, where an interview with Shirley or the Richardsons is now that they've been released from their LOIs. What, you haven't read that here yet? Uh oh, my bad...

Woodcreek is one word. I saw this kid play in high school and I didn't really notice anything spectacular. I hope he improved vastly over the last year.

Not to change the subject or the greatness of this get. But does anyone have any info on Darius Bell the QB? There isn't anything on this kid other than he's in UCLA. Was he a highly rated kid in high school that needed grades? How many stars? Stats? Can anyone share, pls?

friendly guy, do u call anybody a hater who doesn't agree with you? it is easy to get spedj, he is pro-UCLA and wants this blog to improve, nothing wrong with that, except Jon isn't gonna like his approach. Jon will lump him in with all the UCLA 'homers' who batter Jill when she tries to fill in, or who say that UCLA won 8 straight against southern cal in the 90's. c'mon, jon was not even out of high school back then, maybe not even in high school yet. he doesn't have the perspective of those times that age will bring, nor the desire to know UCLA hammered Texas 66-3 cuz it was 'ages ago'. Jon wants you to say things like - vuvuzelas are a pain, LeBron made a spectacle, 13-9 was only once in the past 10 yrs - and other commonly *and* currently agreed-on views among sportswriters/media guys. spedj wants to come original and it ain't gonna help him with Jon. if we want a person who can put it to us straight and has some inside knowledge, put Ben O right next to Jon to even things out.
and lj, why are you still publicly admitting to be a Trojan? if I was their fan, I'd either hang my head in shame and apologize to all who told me to get my head out of the sand when Trojan fans were denying anything wrong ... or just lay low for a few,6,7 years. they cheated so obviously that the Trojan-friendly NCAA was forced to punish them. why does any Trojan fan want to be humiliated when people punch their friend in the shoulder and shout cheater whenever they spot a Trojan cap or T-shirt in a public place? vitriol, my foot - i'm almost tempted to cheer and support spedj with additional vitriol over at that blog supporting cheaters. nah, trojans still in even virtual public make me too ashamed of our cheating society.

I'm confused. I finally saw something on Darius Bell. If u remember (sadly), Kevin Craft was listed as a 5* JC recruit. Bell is listed as a 2* recruit. Anybody else a lil' scared? Is there some good news about this kid that I just haven't heard? Also, does he have to sit out a year or is he ready to go?

The good news about Bell is that he is going to fit in well with the new Pistol offense which can be a physically demanding offense for QB's. He provides much needed depth at the position and until we get some reports of him playing, that's about it. Oh and he's a pretty gifted athlete.

BTW, Wasn't Masoli a 2* QB out of the Juco ranks?

The main knock on him so far is that he's right around 6' tall which as you know is less than ideal for QB's surrounded by 6'6" linemen but less of a detrement for QB's throwing out of the pocket or picking up 1st downs with their legs.
