Weekly Answers, Pt. 5

Check out the latest batch of weekly answers…

1) Jon, based on what you know now, please give us a prediction for the final score between UCLA and USC on the football field later this year. Who wins? I know it’s way early, but please use your crystal ball! Thank you. – Jimmy The GreekUSC 24, UCLA 19

2) Jon, why is our football recruiting going so slowly?…AND BADLY TOO…we loose potential recruits to the law and then loose our only 4-star recruit to Florida possibly…WTF???? – BruincheerleaderCheck to see UCLA’s verbal commits as of Aug. 4, 2009, and then look at the final class. Come and see me Feb. 4.

3) When Colorado officially joins the conference then known as the Pac-12, Neuheisel will have been the head coach of three different teams in the conference. Has any other person been the head coach of three different teams in the conference? Same question re any other major conference. – junglelandThat’s a fantastic question, and I spent 20 minutes googling every which way to find the answer and could not. If any readers out there can think of any, let me (and jungleland) know. Great question.

4) I have heard from more than one player that they do not trust CRN because he says one thing to one player and another to another. At least two of the players have said he talks a big game when he recruits you and when you get there for more than a year ,any bond that used to exist is completely gone. Have you been able to get this sense from the players or are they too cautious to speak about it for fear of retaliation? – AnonymousEvery coach promises every player the entire world. They all shadow it in “You can come in here and compete for a starting job,” but between the adulation and worship, these 16-17 year olds are made to think the coach cares more about them than their own children. I have no doubt that UCLA is the same as everywhere else. Just the way it is.

5) What’s the starting lineup look like right now on both sides of the ball? – AnonymousThe same as at the end of spring practice, though Justin Edison is listed at starting defensive tackle. We’ll know more in about three weeks.
