Jordan Barrett...walk-on?
Former UNLV H-back/tight end Jordan Barrett is at UCLA, and I'm still trying to figure out his exact status. I saw him a couple times, but I thought my eyes deceived me - I covered him a couple years ago, and he was a BEAST at Notre Dame High - and I knew he was doing well at UNLV. I believe he was their first string H-back.
I'm trying to find out more info here, but if the Bruins got him as a walk-on - this was the No. 12 LB in the class of '09 - that's unbelievable. Probably has to do with a scholarship situation, but when I find out anything more, I'll post here.

From reading the comments from Jon's link, it doesnt seem like schools were exactly beating down this guys door. If he were such a "beast", you'd think he would have need a stick to beat the schools off. "Couldnt get hold of Washington?" whats up with that?

Is he practicing with the team in a Uni or just at practice?
I think it's a done deal. Jordan Barrett shows on the official website roster as a TE at 6'2" 246 (last school UNLV).
Barrett will be at TE for UCLA. Seems somewhat odd considering he played RB/LB in high school and LB (minimal playing time) at UNLV. I guess we can always use another body for depth purposes.

I am 6'2" and 206 and would like to lose 5 pounds.
So is this kid carrying extra weight on that frame or what, and perhaps that is why he didn't get extraordinary offers.

John Boy, everyone has a different frame and build. You nay not be able to carry 206 but this kid might be solid muscle (which weighs more than fat) and be able to carry 246 and then some. Maybe he has a larger frame than you.
Another fine transfer for the Bruins. These are the kind of kids your trogans would beg to have as early entries.

I wonder why he didn't choose to go to USC, isn't USC in deperate need of LBs and wouldn't USC's desperate need give Barret a better chance to compete? UCLA is loaded with LBs...why wouldn't he choose USC instead?
