Some blog housekeeping items
Don't forget to add the Inside UCLA Facebook Fan Page - here - and my twitter feed - here - as I'll be posting updates and links on both throughout the season. The higherups are really into the Twitter thing, and really, it's an easy way to convey quick information.
Some other quick hits:
* Any particular features you'd like me to bring back from last year?
* I'd like to bring back the Poll of the Week, where the winner gets to choose 10 questions for a particular football player. Now, with the video component, I think this can be a really interesting feature.
* I've been hoarding UCLA football and basketball cards for a long time, in anticipation of some cool giveaways - who wouldn't want an Alterraun Verner autograph? - so give me some ideas for some contests we can run. What about a "Best UCLA fan" story contest, or something like that? Gotta get rid of the cards; I got them for you guys.
* Lastly, thanks to all those who made my first year as the Daily News' UCLA beat writer an enjoyable one. It's been an...interesting...year, but I've learned a lot. My first year on a major beat, first doing a blog, first with a podcast, then two podcasts, and I appreciate the votes of confidence along the way. For those who were not satisfied, I'll try harder in the year to come.
Thanks,
JG

Jon, you are doing a great job. I was worried when Dohn left but you've exceeded expectations. Keep up the good work.
A lot of questions here revolve around recruiting...I think it would be nice to reach out to a few of the guys that we have offers out to and try to get maybe one a week to have a short Q&A or "get to know" segment. Regardless of whether they end up at UCLA I think finding out a little more about some of these guys would get a lot of interest out of this crowd.
Might be reasonable to award the Alterraun Verner autograph to the regular blog responder who lives the closest to the Astrodome/Reliant Stadium. Just a thought.
I think it would be cool to do a week-by-week Pac-10 pick 'em contest throughout the football season. (I think Yahoo! has a free service.)
Maybe a full analysis of our opponent for the upcoming week. Break down their offense/defense/special teams as compared to the Bruins.
Congrats on one year Jon. You came in with some huge shoes to fill, and although I think you still have room to grow in some areas, you are doing really well considering it's only been one year. Most people forget that when this blog became really popular, Dohn already had 4-5 years of experience under his belt. You'll get there, keep working hard.
Has it been a year?.....great work Jon under the stress of taken over for someone else.....GREAT JOB
Plus one on the Pac 10 pick-em contest. It would be nice to include a few games involving current top-10 teams also.
Jon, have a daily trivia contest
John, in previous comments about silent commits, it sounded as Austin Seferian-Jenkins was one of them. He was a UCLA lean, what happened there? I would have loved to seen the Bruins land the top TE in the nation. How many more silent commits do you know of and how come they just don't announce instead of holding out?
