Fantastic write-up Mr. Gold. Provides great insight from a former O-line’s prospective.

Any chance you can supplement this article with a video of the actual drive? Any chance of making “Anatomy of a Drive” a weekly (doubtful) or yearly (hopeful) thing?

Agree completely, great stuff. I always appreciate being able to read articles like this that take you deeper inside the game and how it’s won or lost. If there’s any way to get corresponding video, that would be amazing.

    Well done!

second romeo’s request – Tivo went haywire on me, lost the recording and can’t find much besides highlights online. Would love to read along while watching the actual plays…

Very cool interview with the great Darius Savage.

Good info, but Jon, I beg you, don’t try to crib Plaschke’s style with the multitude of one-sentence paragraphs.

Not only is it annoying to read, but he’s just about the worst role model possible for sports writing going forward into the 21st century.

I’m not saying that facetiously. I do mean *worst*.

Oh man, good article! Great read. And sometimes one sentence is a complete thought and the paragraph breaks fall where they must.

same thing happened to my dvr. go to the evil 4 letter website and in the searchbox type “espn3 ucla vs texas.” you can watch the whole replay

  • longsnapper

Interesting stuff but it’s a huge mistake to be going over the Texas game 5 days after the final gun. Time to focus on improvement and the reality that it’s very unlikely that future opponents will turn the ball over the way the Longhorns did.
