Here's an idea. How about starting the season with Santa Clara, Cal State Northridge, and SLO. Not to say we would win, but we would have a chance. Bring on the schools from Texas.

I don't think Cal Poly, Northridge, and Santa Clara would want to schedule a cupcake like UCLA. Those teams want to get better in their non-conference season...not simply beat up on an overmatched team like UCLA.
