If you want a preview of the pistol offense, Hawaii is running it right now against USC.

...do keep in mind that it is Hawaii running the pistol though. Tremendous mismatch in talent in this game.

Hawaii is running a modified run 'n' shoot offense with 4 wide receivers. No tightends, no F-backs, and I'm not sure they're doing much zone reads. Just because they're in the shotgun in I-formation doesn't mean they're running the pistol, much less the unique UCLA revolver variant.

TJ-

correct. hawaii is very overmatched in talent. But Neuheisel is a great recruiter but a lousy motivator and mediocre coach. Based on talen, he should win by 14 points. Let's see how he does.

Yeah a lousy motivator and mediocre coach that have two Top-5, three Top-10, and four Top-20 finishes running 3 WR, Veer, West Coast and now Pistol offenses, winning the Cotton, the Holiday, and the Rose Bowl as a player and a coach. So many trolls now that the season have started...

TJ, comes from a place where the sun doesn't shine and his brain has not matured to any great size. Therefore his comments have no validity. Go bruins and never underestimate the ability or the passion of CRN.

@blue critter: I think you meant the Anon 9:28 and not TJ. the trolls here are too scared to use their real names/handles.

I hope the pistol doesn't end up with KPrince getting rocked like the Hawaii qb...

yow.

Prince will get his fair share of hard hits this season... Brehaut needs to be ready because you can bet Prince will go down at some point this season.

I saw 588 total yards of offense (459 yards through the air) and 0 TO vs. a bigger/stronger/faster defense... wow...

I have not seen UCLA put up these numbers since MJD and Drew Olson.

Whoa!!! Southern Cal's Defense is very vulnerable....Eespecially in the back 7. They are VERY beatable! Even though they put up 49 pts, it was against an outclassed Hawaii Defense. Hawaii's offense, however, was fun to watch....Man, I can't wait until Saturday!

Go BRUINS!!!

Hey TJ,
Let see , Nueheisel Led Colorado to a BCS Bowl, and Washington finished #3, What has Lame Kiffin done? USC looked weak tackling against a wimpy Hawaii team. The PAC 10 is going to chew you up and spit you out!!!!

Is it just me, or does Lame Kiffin come off like a spoiled, petulant child with an anger management problem?

Things I liked about last night's game - Lane is no Pete Carroll, on or off camera, and 588 yards for the UH offense. SC was better, but count those 2 Hawaii TD's and SC may have actually lost.

Add four points for that horrible "no TD" call and if Hawaii covered that punt (RJ's TD) like a college team and not a pop warner team, you would have a two point game, combine that with a dropped pass in the endzone by the Hawaii receiver and USC loses this game by five...add many dropped passes by Hawaii Receivers and Hawaii scores one more TD win by 12...add tons missed of missed tackles (Tyler's TD) and USC loses by 19...I called that LUCK that USC faced a Hawaii team that won't win more than 5 games this year.

USC has been exposed as a below average Pac-10 team with no depth whatsoever on defense, less depth than what I gave them credit for earlier...come December fourth!! come!! UCLA is going to light them trojies up.

BruinRob, if just one of those things comes true, the entire game unfolds differently. It is called chaos theory. You can't miraculously change plays for one team and expect everything to go the same for the rest of the game... That said, you got to feel better about your chances against the trojans this year.

Holy Crap if we can limit SUCs run game and run the pistol atleast as good (I'm guessing we will) as Hawaii We Will beat SUC!They looked lost!I always give credit where it's due even if it is the hated trolls but in all seriousness I was not impressed!Fight Fight Fight!

Let's not get too excited, yeah? Hawaii's offense and defense are almost nothing like UCLA's. The first game of the season under a new coach with a lot of personnel changes is generally going to look sloppy.

Besides, Monte Kiffin will tighten their defense up quickly. I have no idea what to expect from Lane, but Monte sure as s___ has a proven track record.

The overall gameplan was unimpressive, but make no mistake that Monte Kiffin and Ed Orgeron will have that defense looking much better next week.

Calm down folks... let's not get ahead of ourselves yet. I am just as amped as everyone for Saturday, but we can't jump directly to the rivalry game before we even take a snap. Supposedly, "those guys" didn't practice tackling throughout camp so that could be a reason/excuse for their bad defensive showing. That will probably correct itself after a few games, so let's not bank on that later. Plus, you know that teams are very different from the start of the season compared to the end of the season (rivalry game). So with all that being said, it is nice to see that SUC is susceptible to a bad season this year (and worse as the sanctions kick in) while we have growing optimism and a team on the upswing.

Aww, who am I kidding?! Let's kick those guys' asses!!!
