| | Comments (15) |

Congrats to Backdoor Cut (for the second time this year) for being the closest in our Poll of the Week, picking Cal to win 31-13.

Backdoor Cut - please email me 10 questions for any UCLA football player at jon.gold@dailynews.com.

I have a question for any Bruins player:

What do you think of so called Bruins "fans" who pick the Bruins to lose just so they can ask 10 questions to any Bruins player?

Reformed Droog Author Profile Page said:

LOL! Contrary to the vocal minority, I'm pretty sure that most Bruin fans are balanced enough to accept that (a) ultimately, this is just a game, and (b) reality exists.

Your assertion that a true fan can't predict a loss for their team is ridiculous. Feel free to go troll somewhere else.

Troll?! I am a season ticket holder and a Wooden donor, so to say I am a troll is ludicrous.

I never said a fan cannot predict a loss, I said a "fan" who predicts a loss on a blog just so that they can ask 10 questions to a Bruins player is BS!

The Bruins may lose the game, they may not, but I would never put a wager that they will.

I support the Bruins win or lose and I will always put my "prediction" in the Bruins favor.

Feel free to call yourself a Bruins fan while you "predict" they will lose. It is from "fans" like you that the Bruins players read about doubting them, instead of supporting them, regardless of what your inner feelings tell you.

Thanks for your input Reformed Droog aka Nostradamus.

Everyone's going to be waiting for Backdoor Cut's next prediction before laying down their bets.

Did Backdoor cut steal Marty McFly's sports almanac book from Back to the Future?

robear.. don't be an idiot. a fan can predict their team to lose.

Droog - I raised your point a few weeks ago, after I picked UCLA to lose to Furd, badly. Being a fan and being blind are two different things. It's no wonder there are so many kooked-out fans on these pages whining after a loss. Nobody wants to believe that UCLA is a very average team this year, despite all the warnings.

@ Brock, "robear.. don't be an idiot. a fan can predict their team to lose."

Maybe you should read my post again and then ask yourself if you have any room to be calling anyone and "idiot"

I said a fan can predict their team to lose, just to do so on an open blog so as to possibly "win" a chance to ask some questions is BS.

So as Richard Pryor said (narrated by Eddie Murphy)..."why don't you have yourself a coke and a smile and STFU."

Brock Author Profile Page said:

looks like it is just a lost cause with you. someone wants to ask someone on the team some questions, they realize that we are going to lose so they predict a score. he happens to be right and he gets his questions asked. i don't understand why you are having such a hard time with someone predicting a loss on an online blog, lol. when you come back to reality give me a call.

I HOPE UCLA wins...I also am a season ticket holder, donor, etc. (not that this matters at all).

I WANT UCLA to win...

I PREDICT that UCLA will lose (Oregon is a much better team playing at home).

That prediction is made whether there are 10 questions I can ask or not...that's what I think will happen.

That so hard to understand?

Not hard to understand at all.

Ok guys, we are all UCLA fans so we will agree on that point. We have different idea's of what type of fan we will be, I'm not saying that I am a "better fan" than anyone else because I choose to not "predict" the Bruins will lose, to each there own.

I, and this is MY opinion only, would never predict a loss for UCLA. I do not care if the Bruins were playing Peyton Manning and the Colts, I would still say there is a chance. Anything can happen on any given day and I choose to continue to believe that the Bruins will win the game Thursday.

Maybe I am an optimist and I ALWAYS hope for, and expect, the best from the Bruins regardless of the opponent.

Everyone, except a select few, predicted the Bruins would get blown out by Texas and we all know how that turned out.

I am not saying this will be another "UCLA shocked the Nation" week, but I hope that it is and I will continue to hope until the final second of the game.

I am sorry if our views are different and we do not agree on what will happen Thursday. I have my opinion and some of you have yours and it is all good.

P.S. I do predict that the Bruins need Prince to STEP UP much more than he has for the Bruins to have any shot, but I think he could.

If I have offended anyone with my previous comments I apologize.

Hi robear20

I am with you brother.

We should always cheer for our team and never bet that it will lose.

After saying this, for this week's game against Oregon, I think I am not going to vote in POW because there is a change that we will get whipped. Just a little chance :)

Go bruins!

I'm just gonna have to keep winning this thing until Jon remembers my name...

Don't know if people agree with this line of thinking, or understand it, but I like to keep my expectations in check with reality.

I think Jon wrote a big post about this the other day.

I'd love nothing more than to see the Bruins win every game. But as an ex-player, I know that what the fans believe/want means NOTHING. So I feel perfectly fine being forthcoming with what I think is really going to happen.

Getting to play reporter and ask questions is a bonus cherry. I play the POW just to see how accurate my assessment is. (and I know that there's basically no validity to any "predictions" we make. There are billions of factors that decide the outcome of a game. Flip a few and you get a very different outcome.)

Anyway, I did have a great time thinking up Qs for David Carter a few weeks back...and his answers were awesome, I thought.

I really hope the next round turns out as well...cheers!

@robear20 - I recognize your name so I know you're not a visitor, but you asked a question specifically to provoke and question the loyalty of other Bruin fans - whether you realize it or not. That's trolling in my book.

To your original question, I would like to think that people aren't predicting losses because they want to ask 10 questions, but I don't know everyone here, so I suppose that's possible.

When I'm asked what my prediction is for a game, I answer with that I think is the most likely outcome, regardless of how hard the blue and gold pumps through my veins. (And trust me, you're not the only season ticket holder, booster, etc.)

robear20 Author Profile Page said:

@Reformed Droog, I know I wasn't trying to provoke, question yeah, but not provoke.

I know it is not my place to question another Bruins fan's level of commitment as a fan and I apologize for doing so.

In the end we are all out for the same thing and that is for the Bruins to get better and to win their games.

I will still never predict the Bruins will lose, but I will not question another fan who does.

GO BRUINS!!!!
