Wow, that was interesting.
Jon I just don't think interviewing kids, as they come off of the field after such a tough game, is the correct thing to do.
These are young student athletes not professional seasoned players.
Like the interviews, but give these guy's a little space.
Agree with Rico Bruin. That was pretty low journalism, if you can call it that.
The coaching staff is letting these guys down. That was a terrible game plan yesterday and gave them no chance to even compete. You don't play a team like that straight up, with a conservative game plan. What happened to Chow and Neuheisel? When did they become Donahue and Dorrell? (actually, BOTH of those guys had teams that produced great offense, so it's probably not even a fair comparison)
Ask short to-the-point questions. Don't insert your opinion into the question. Sports radio hosts make this mistake all the time.
Grumpy you nailed it with your comment.
That is exactly what I don't like about Jons questions.
It took me reading your comment to clarify it for me.
Jon I do appreciate and enjoy your work. You should take Grumpys advice, it will improve your game.
I just invested 40-minutes of my life reading all the ucla posts from the past couple of days. Not one positive one! Sports fans are "pathetic."
That Oregon offense is hanging 55 points or so on every team it plays, so ucla was no worse point-wise than every other team the Ducks have played.
And about this chant of the boys 'just gave up.' Well, when you are down by 40 points, you have no chance of winning, do you expect players to give a full-out effort in vain? Would you? Have you? Oh, you never played the game, you say. You just like to rip college kids and their coaches for fun.
Typical L.A. guys, with your 'entitlement' cravings. Why do you think you "deserve" a national power football team? Is not a Washington State equally deserving?
Geez Louise, no wonder the rest of the country hates our guts.
Jon,
Your interviews are more like multiple choice exams. Let the interviewee answer the questions.
Jon,
I hope you change the way you interview. I agree with the posts that address this point.
Jon, I like your postgame interviews - keep up the good work. I don't think there is anything wrong with the questions asked, nor is it inappropriate to ask SCHOLARSHIP ATHELETEs reasonable questions after a tough loss. If you want to be on camera in the good times, you have to be willing to do it in the bad times -that's called OWNING IT. Something the UCLA players and coaches need to do more often.
I love how passionate Marvray is, it really shows how much he hates losing. I feel bad for him because I know he gives it all he has every time he's on the field, whether it's a game or practice. Keep your head up buddy...
Go Bruins!!!
