when will howland be able to late a top notch PG again?

  • The Big Woof!

Let’s not get overexcited about getting these multi-starred players who will come for a year or two and then turn pro. We need a good, solid point guard who is a team player, knows how to lead the break and the offense, and play good defense and stay for 4 years. There are plenty of guys around who fit that bill and are not the big name players at the time. See Tyus Edney, for example, or more recently Derek Glasser at ASU.

If Howland actually lets loose on the reins and sticks to his plan of going up-tempo, he might have a chance at guys like this. Otherwise, I would think they’d rather go someplace where they play a faster pace. UCLA is a great basketball school but who wouldn’t want to play for Coach K? He’s 63 so if I were recruiting against him, I’d be playing the he is getting close to retirement card. Will Coach K. be there until you graduate?
