Weekly Answers, Pt. 6

Check out the latest batch of weekly answers…

1) Andrew Luck. LaMichael James. Jacquizz Rogers. In addition to being great players, these guys have something else in common: They’re all from Texas. UCLA has Ryan Taylor and that’s it. Why can’t UCLA find more players from the Lone Star state? – Isiah Thomas
It’s not for lack of trying. Of more concern should be the fact that both James and Rodgers were not particularly lofty recruits, while UCLA has gotten the higher-rated guys, and not done much with them.

2) How likely is it that norm is let go by CRN and he hires former offensive wiz Mike Leach? – Bruin 2008
Like my favorite Robert Downey Jr. movie, less than zero.

3) Jon what is your POV on Why our QB is now exclusively turning completly around when handing off? Early in the year it appeared we exclusively used a slow read of the D.End, and lately we have gone to this reverse pivot, and ditched the read play. Have we just simplified because of the QB situation or is this offense just that predictible with our pathetic execution? – Anonymous
That’s a great observation, and I’ll look for that today. I mentioned the curious QB/RB exchange earlier this season, and it seemed to be working very well. I even had Kevin Prince, before he was hurt, explain it to me. It was working with Prince, and it appears Brehaut just isn’t able to make the same run-read.

4) I read in T.J. Simers article that a person in bruin gear verbally assaulted him during Neuheisel’s post game press conference. Did you witness anything? – Anonymous
I didn’t see anything, but “verbally assaulted” seems pretty strong, no?

5) Coach Neuheisel keeps trying to sell optimism and tells us alumni that the future is bright and that our program is very close to a turnaround. The play on the field suggests otherwise. The fan base is starting to see through all of this and is tiring of all the talk and wants results. How long until the administration and the players start tiring of it and quit on him? – Doug
I think he at least has one more year to get things on track, and I think he will, but if not, he’ll need to do a haaaard sell to be around for 2012 if next year goes in the tank. I’ve said many times I expect at least eight wins in 2011. If the team struggles to get to 6-6, Neuheisel will have some explaining to do.
