Longevity of a coach

On a conference call today, Ben Howland was asked how long he thinks he'll coach before retiring.
``I hope I can coach another 10 years,'' he said. ``I'm 53. But who knows. When you're 63, that might be the new 53.''

When he was first hired in 2003, Howland said that since Coach Wooden retired when he was 65, that would be a good time to leave. It sounds as if BH is still with that plan.

Hey guys you know what?!? IF Ben Howland were to have a child today, and IF that child was the most gifted athlete in human history, and IF the child was also a super genius who could get into college at the age of 10, then, just maybe, Ben Howland could coach his son to a national championship at UCLA in his farewell season. How cool would that be?! Unlikely, yes, but never say never...
