The passion bucket is back

| | Comments (25) |

For as down as Rick Neuheisel was after Saturday's loss to Arizona, the bubbly Neuheisel was back on Monday.
``I'm an eternal optimist,'' Neuheisel said. ``That's never going to change. ... I had hopes for us to be in the (Pac-10) race. I don't think we're that far away. I know sometimes the lopsided scores look as if we are. I see this as a chance to climb that hurdle faster than other might think.''

I'm waiting for the day when Neuheisel is a realist presenting positive information.

He's something alright Eternal optimist is one was to look at it. Delusional might be a better way. Not that far away? We're 1-4 in a conference that's only getting stronger with Utah showing up. Not that far away? We've been outscored 186-83 in conference. Scored more then 14 points only twice. The offense is anemic at putting the ball in the endzone. The defense has been embarrassed time and again.

He said what? said:

"Not that far away." From what? Disbanding the program?

Neuheisel reminds me of a used car salesman. "Sure, the engine needs a lot of work, and it's covered with rust. But with a good car wash, you'll be driving a Rolls Royce."

Doesn't he know people can see through his stale act? Neuheisel is as transparent as celophane.

The offense "was" anemic with no dowwnfield passing game. You so called Bruin fans forget all the injuries and young guys we got on our team. Not to mention a patchwork O-line without Maiva and Sua-Filo. We'll be back and back strong! Dorrell set us back years with his recruiting! Now Neuheisel I bringing that back. And yeah our defense has looked bad at times, but when an offense can't move the ball, like when Prince was our qb, any defense will get tired and give up big numbers! Bre looked like a QB who can stretch the field. Can't wait to see us back on top! Have faith fellow fans!
Go Bruins!

Neuheisel has THREE STRAIGHT Top 15 recruiting classes. How much time do you give him? Most people's patience is at an end!

what did you expect from the coach? gloom, doom and a white flag? if brehaut continues to improve, better days are ahead.

Ucla34, Say what you want about Dorrell but he wasn't this bad his third year. This is whats wrong with Bruinland nowadays. Everyone is too busy making excuses for whatever is wrong that year and telling everyone to "just wait." Been doing it for a decade plus, and where has it got us? Nowhere. We want results, not excuses.

that bucket is full of our vomit this year. I hope Dan Guerrero gets to taste it at the buffet line. Hopefully, your 2nd disastrous football hire will be your last at UCLA. Let's boycott the football games so they have no revenues.

Relax everyone! Most of you are being way too harsh on Rick especially with the comparisons to Carl Dorell.

Remember that Dorell pretty much left a skeleton team for Rick, the first year he had no QB both Cowan and Olsen were lost in consecutive plays in practice and UCLA used their scout team QB McLoud Bethel-Thompson and Ossaar Rashan as the QB that season.

And at the Running back postion we had Craig Sheppard as the Running back when he was promoted from the scout team, and the OLine? we had none!
I think most of you are aware that last year and the year before UCLA converted Tight Ends and DLinemen to play the OLine as well because UCLA had NO LINE whatsoever. Jeff Baca, Kai Maeiva and Stan Hasiak will be back next season from injuries, and we have young bright OLinemen that will be more experienced next year in Chris Ward, Wade Yadall, and Greg Capella, along with the incoming recruits.

So to all you naysayers calling for Rick's head - take a chill pill!! Rick and his staff will put it together, and when he does it will be one smooth running oiled machine, I guarantee it!!

Neuheisel has had to COMPLETELY rebuild this team from the ground up, it's been like starting a whole new program, and Rick deserves the TRUE BLUE Bruin fan support.

Go Bruins!!

OK....Three years later...your recruits are JR's and RS SO's...Hmmmmm

Dorell skeletons still relevant in 2010(2deep):

A.Ayers,K.Forbath,M.Harris,S.Sheller,K.Maiva,D.Savage,G.Love,N.Chandler,J.Edison,S.Sloan,D.Carter,C.Viney,
M.Kia?

Other Skeletons left by KD...(currently in the NFL)

B.Price, T.Austin, Korey Bosworth, Kyle Bosworth, K.Bell, A.Verner, B.Davis, B.Locket, L Paulsen

Not chopped liver...R. Carter and B. Harwell to name a few.

This is not intended to highlight Dorell's recruiting prowess, but if the cupboard was so bare and Neuheisel had to "completely rebuild this team from the ground up" then 3 years later why are these guys still relevant?

BruinRob I disagree! The cupboard was bare, But Olson and Cowan were injured in practice?????? The only reason Sheppard saw any time was because of injuries to Bell and Carter! Now you guys are blaming injuries on KD?

Man!! I never thought Dorell should have been hired and was ready for him to go after the 1st damn year, but when will you guys stop using him as an excuse 3 years later for CRN!! The recruiting rankings are smoke and mirrors...why? The 08 class included K.Craft(5 stars) A.Dean(4 stars) M.Knox(4 stars) Woods(4 star) and Moutra(4 stars) all left except Kraft(NC)? Also in 09-10 three (4 star) recruits are gone not including Hasiak and Su'a Filo who are both question marks in my book.

Neu deserves one more maybe 2 years with improvement in 2011 to right the ship, unfortunately injuries, the 4th toughest schedule in the FBS compounded by bad personnel and coaching decisions have the ship stuck in reverse at the moment. Any recruiting holes left by KD should be addressed and fixed by year four and this team should be able to compete, no excuses!

GO BRUINS! NO $UC TROLLS HERE!

I've seen the good and I've seen the bad. Saw my first UCLA game at the coliseum in 1965, Tommy Prothro chain-smoking on the sidelines, the gutty little Bruins 'smokin' on the field. Great season. Nobody saw us coming. We showed 'em. Sweated through Pepper Rodgers, Vermiel, Donahue, Toledo and Dorrell, who, don't forget, in his third year had seniors from Toledo's last recruiting class. I've seen the thick and I've seen the thin and take it from me, Neuheisel's doing most everything right. It's coming. Three straight really good recruiting classes does not equate to success on the field this season. Sorry. last year's kids are freshmen who will not see the field for the most part, the year before last's are just now starting to contribute. Stay the course.

Couldn't have said it better, BigDBruin.

KD was not the answer, but it's way too late to bring up his name as the fault for this team, imo. Great recruiting classes, the supposed dream team of coaching...and it isn't just losing, it's the way we're losing. This shouldn't be happening in ANYBODY'S third year.

DigDBruin, you make some valid points...but the root of our problems has been the OLine and the QB position, the OLine has improved drastically, and the QB position remains in question, but certainly better than last year, and with Hundley coming next year he will compete for the job.

I think we got a lot of Toejams here posting! Pretty hilarious with their FB I.Q. Always will be dumb as rocks! I love how they gloat about when uncle Pete was their HC. It's funny how they all dismiss the fact that while he was there he cheated. Anyways, for you other so called fans who most likely never played a down of football, please don't post. Everyone is pissed with the direction of the program since 2001! Feelings and emotions are justified. However, the fact you all ignore Neuheisel ineherited no talent is hilarious! Dorrell got 1 5 star recruit in his 6 yrs and that was because of Eric Bienemey who was at Colorado and then took the coaching job at Ucka. That's the only reason we got MJD. He was on his way to Colorado. It takes time to build a program back up from the ground. Be pissed, but also be knowledgeable about who to be pissed at. And I admit I haven't agreed with play calling or personnel usage at times, but we've had no depth or play makers. Neuheisek is changing that. People on here have said look t Dorrells' thirs year. Well Drew Olsen was recruited by Toldeo. So wheres the justification there? Have patience! Our time is coming sooner than you think! Go Bruins!!!

Look on the bright side, UCLA has caught USC, both have shady head coaches, overpaid high profile assistants whose units get blown off the field, and both will see California recruits heading north and east.
